I came to the meet a little late today and didn't really get to meet anyone. But I think it was a nice turnout even though the weather didn't cooperate. Everyone has nice really nice cars. RaceMX-M3 loved the sound of your car. The GT-R and 997 were pretty sweet. Can't wait till the next meet.

How do you like the PDK? Im wondering if Porsche got it right. Everyone is doing these trans. Now. I can't imagine they did it wrong but I'm curious.

From a tranny perspective, it is amazing. Shifts are dead quick and instant. If you were racing on track or street, the power continues and never stops. 2 things I don't care for are the buttons on the steering wheel (just prefer the F1 paddles) and also the car in Sport Plus automatic mode drives for you and only shifts at redline. There is no need for interaction with the car.

I enjoy driving the car because it is quick. I think as quick as an 07-08 911 turbo, but only because of the speed shifting. The car is my wife's, so I don't drive it much, and prefer the manual of my GT2 for driving enjoyment.

If I wanted a race car who's sole purspose was to be quick around the track, the PDK would be it.

I prefer some involvement.

Texas does have good roads in the Big Bend region and in the Hill Country. South Eastern Oklahoma and North Western Arkansas both have good roads. The problem here in the DFW metroplex is that you have to travel a long ways to get to them.

I'll agree about California. I lived in Fremont for many years. My friends and I routinely rode our motorcycles up over Mt. Hamilton from San Jose then down to Mines Road and into Livermore. We also rode all over the Peninsula on Skyline, Hwy 84 and Highway 9. All incredible and usually lightly to not patrolled. I really enjoyed watching the Tour of California last week on several of the same roads.

Great shots Nick (Band!t)! As a few of you may know.....I met Nick recently when he posted a photo of my red '69 912 that he took at the last Cars & Coffee. Through a string of emails about that photo, it turns out that.....my blue '66 912 that he is showing on this thread is a car I bought from his grandfather 32 years ago, one year before Nick was born!!!!!!! What are the chances?!! Purely by chance, Nick is united with his grandfathers car 32 years later. Nick's grandfather was a huge car collector, owning many significant Ferraris as well as other great cars. He was a vintage racer, regularly competing in the Monterey Historics as well as others. He special ordered the blue 912 in '65 and bought it at Economy VW, on Lemmon Ave (present location of the Aston-Martin store), and I bought it from him 12 yrs later in 1978. He was such a nice gentleman and regretfully passed away exactly 7 years ago from the day when Nick and I connected a few weeks ago. What a small world when it comes to the car hobby!!
