Took a few pix of the Raptor . Redneck light bar added (DIY), blacked out tint all around (thanks to David at TriTek) and fully pimped Viper alarm, autostart and integrated backup camera (thanks Odin at Earmark in Plano).

So what's the feedback so far? What do you like so far? Not like?
Before long, may I catch a ride in it? I'm thinking about ordering a 2012 Raptor.

You know, effective Sept. 1, you are now allowed to shoot hogs from the air. IJS.

So far, I am a fan. Gas consumption is not good but it has a large enough tank that it’s not inconvenient. The ride is unbelievable. I am accustomed to my dad’s trucks, usually F250 with a 5th wheel. Those things will beat you to death but the Raptor is smooth as glass over any Dallas roadway and not bad on terrane that would trip up a four wheeler. For those who have been to the ranch and know the back hill (the one you can see the house from), there is a wicked decent that would scare most people just trying to walk down it. I seen a lot of people turn back on the four-wheelers and refuse to go down it. The Raptor (in off-road, decent-braking mode) rolled down without me even having to touch the brake peddle. It completely controlled the decent and made sure that the truck never gain an unacceptable amount of yaw (i.e.: it kept itself pointed straight down). It was really remarkable.
Anyway, I was really happy with the V and may get another one someday but for now, the Raptor is a keeper.
p.s. I had to cut my garage henge for the truck to fit. It clears by 1 inch.

The Raptor is bad a$$, but as far as shooting hogs from the air, the ultralight and a thermal scope equiped rifle is the ticket!

Here are a couple of shots of the Raptor out in its element.
After a little jaunt through the rice fields.

Then a couple down at the Ranch. This was a location that was only reachable from a 4-Wheeler or Gator, until now.

Damn, and now you have a Raptor too. :D Congrats Mark.
I looked at them as well and really was impressed with the ride on the street. But unfortunately like yourself I had some garage fitting issues when I brought it home to test it. I could just fit it in if I folded a side mirror, but getting in and out once inside was kind of a pain and would have grown problematic with time.

There have been quite a few reports of this happening. http://www.autoblog.com/2011/07/21/svt-boss-goes-on-record-about-ford-raptor-frame-damage-claims-w/ Ford contends that it is the inexperience of the off-road drivers that is causing the issue. This article is an interesting interview with a Ford SVT Engineer.

The thread I read had people going over 12” surface differences at 55mph. Basically slamming the truck into a rock, then the frame bows. They had designed aftermarket frame reinforcements but Ford contends that if the frame doesn’t bend it will likely send the energy to wheel, catapulting the rear of the truck upwards. Now, I agree with complainants that the response is a BS answer that means “we ain’t buying you a new frame.” But I think the admitted level of use by some of the people is extreme. They watched a Baja video and think that they can do that too.
I may go mudding at 55mph but I won’t be hitting rocks or ditches at that speed. I should be ok.

I would rather a frame give out than my back.

09-12-2011, 01:56 PM
People are bending frames because they think the Raptor is a class eight offroad truck that they can jump over a river and drive away. Not really the trucks fault....that thing looks like a ton of fun Mark, what do you think of the power? Or a better question, when's the supercharger coming?!
I'm curious as well if you're considering either the supercharger or twin turbo upgrades for the truck, any thought at this point or still just enjoying it ?

I don't really want to go 200mph in this thing and I haven't found it short on torque in any situation yet. There is lots of room in there for s SC tho.

Has anyone done an Ecoboost swap into one of these yet?

There is a rumor that Ford will offer the ecoboost motor in the Raptor pretty soon. I haven't heard about a swap but I'm kinda new to the forums.

An Ecoboost in the Raptor would make it perfect IMO.
