Hey guys, my name is Frankie and I am from Houston Tx. However, I go to school at Texas State in San Marcos. I saw a guy last night with a new gen blue STI and had the "DFWAUTOCLUB.COM" sticker on the rear hatch, so I decided to join, since he was so fast, that's all I was able to see. HAHA :D

A little more about myself, I am 20 years old and I own a MKIV Matchstick Red GTI. I am studying towards a DR. in Physical Therapy and I enjoy cars greatly! :D

So let me give you a background on my GTI.

It is a 2001 1.8T

I bought it January 22nd from a Houstonian!

This is how she began

HOLY LIFT KIT

First thing is first MAINTENANCE!

Had bad tie rods and strut mounts, SO, I said hey, lets make this maintenance into a mod and get coilovers!

The night of installation! First picture!

I still had more maintenance to do so I changed out a leaky steering rack at school in a parking lot :O

don't worry, only used the widow maker to help lower the subframe.

Then I changed out the control arm bushings to solid R32 and poly bushings, Changed out wheel hub bearings, both axle's, Transmission dog bone mount.

After looking at it, I said MAN, I need bigger wheels and traded my 15's as an even swap for some 17" TSW's

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5181/5555735075_49bdfa4867_b.jpg

Didn't like them too much so went and sold those and got some 17" OEM LB's and put them on :D

Then, The car got new 25th European Spec Headlights with glass lenses and fogs, Monters mats, and TINT!

after having done ALL my maintenance work including the timing belt job in a garage, I finally went and got the car tuned with APR stage 1.

I added an APR turbo inlet pipe

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6002/5991339417_a02bca65ed_b.jpg

a Cold air intake

no pics sorry. LOL

and a 3" catless downpipe!

and went APR stage 2.

After sitting back and thinking a little I realized I didn't ride my bike much so I went and used my shop discount and got a roof rack and now am riding again! :D

After doing those mods, I went and wanted a little better wheel fitment so I added 20mm and 10mm spacers!

sorry bad cell phone pics

http://i803.photobucket.com/albums/yy319/FranklinRomero/29dcf133.jpg

and an R32 pedal set :D

http://i803.photobucket.com/albums/yy319/FranklinRomero/603eec00.jpg

NOW it is time for more maintenance and am going with an upgraded and bigger clutch kit made by sachs that uses a larger VR6 clutch and pressure plate with a G60 single mass flywheel.

Welcome! Are the rims in the last picture the rims you still have on the car? Any chance you want to sell them?

Yeah they are the ones currently on the car. I was thinking about selling them and getting some some BBS', but since I don't have a job right now, I probably couldn't afford the difference. LOL

Welcome. This is a great forum!

Thank you sir!

A litt update on the MKIV GTI build. I am starting to fund for a Big Turbo Build.

Something not too big for the 4cyl but that will be nice

Currently I have the following list

-GT2871R (or Precision comparable)
-New Oil/Cooling lines
-Log Manifold (would have loved an equal length but too pricey for me)
-Custom 3" turbo back
-BT 630cc File
-Siemens 630cc injectors
-Aeromotive Fuel Pump
-HKS BOV (maybe)
-Custom FMIC
-Custom Intake
-IE Rods and Bearings
-New Pistons and Rings
-New Gaskets as well :D

Not sure about the blue sti. The only person I can think of with a fast one is RalleyRat and I don't know if he is on this forum. Can't imagine who was sporting a sticker. I'm sure it's just a momentary lapse on my part.

So who is the custom fab guy on here? I would like to get a quote to fab up the FMIC and Intake :D

I think i will just get the manifold off the shelf unless there is a good deal on a custom equal length manifold.

If it was dark blue, it was most likely Tony: tonystifan.

Yep. That was me! I'm glad you joined the forum. I knew keeping that sticker would be useful lol. It was nice getting to do a few runs with you that night. I was on my way back to Fort Worth. Nice ride!

Thanks man, I was just amazed by your car. I knew from the get go I had no chance, but I had done some work this summer and had not raced anyone since May when I was completely stock.

Probably a bad choice in a first race. hahaha
