Installed Tischer short shift kit with ZHP knob, and alcantara boot. UNBELIEVABLE!! I can't believe I didn't do this sooner. I highly recommend this mod. Very easy install. Took approximately 1.5 hours start to finish. Biggest PITA was removing the nylon cup, which became easier once I found my needle nose pliars.
Makes me fall in love with her all over again.
Big thanks to Tischer for the expedient delivery, and excellent product!!

Looks like that was a good decision. :thumbsup2:
The only question I have is why Tischer. I know they flood the mboards with their great deals. However, Classic BMW will meet or beat their price on any BMW item. If you have a BMW CCA membership you always get 10% off at any good BMW dealership. Just wondering........;)

Of all the local places, Moritz has the lowest prices on parts, followed by BMW of Dallas. Classic is always high and don't you ever try to get Jason Jarvis to lower prices for you, he's got the f- you attitude. If I'm desperate for a part and Classic has it in stock, then I buy from Thai. Thai is the man, although his prices are still a little high.
Airbag, did you happen to take down the part number of the new shifter? I'm curious what shifter is in the Tischer SSK.

Very surprising, I have just the oposite luck - Moritz the highest, BMW Dallas next, and Classic always the lowest! Tischer and Circle BMW have some of the lowest new BMW parts prices in the U.S. - Classic has always matched their prices, if I give them the website to go to. The parts guys at Moritz and BMW Dallas always tell me to get the part from Circle or Tischer when they see the web price.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all about supporting the local economy so I will give no second thought to paying a little more at Classic if they have the part in stock; especially since Tischer usually takes a few days/week w/ ground shipping, even longer if there is a part in your order on backorder.
But I will always buy from Thai. Everytime I've asked Jason for part availability and price, he makes it sound like it's a burden.

I'm a Classic fan and although I do get some discounts (BMW CCA), I have to agree with Michael.
I support Classic and always pay a higher price, but when I factor my driving time, gas and tolls, I break even.
I have had a smiliar experience with Michael. The prices at Classic are awlays higher. I never did shop there.

What Michaels means is, the OEM part number on the sticker of the shifter.
We found out, that they don't make a SS, BMW took an shorter OEM shifter from another model, but we don't know which one.
We also used the shifter of a 5 series and it works great as a SS, because they fit exactly the same way on the carrier.
We want to see how tall/short it is compared to the one we have or if it's the same we have.

We will soon have a local BMW Dealer sponsoring our forum and offering "club" discounts to DFWAC members. I would prefer for it to be Classic if possible. Just need to track down Eric Maas.

The ZHP knob is a really great compliment to the ssk. I had one in my E39 M5 and the combination was a joy to shift!:driver:
Looks great!

The ZHP is a weighted knob, so it gives a nice feel to shifting and the lower shifter takes away the broom stick feel. :thumbsup2:
