I found this board from several guys in the Border Run Rally.

I'm Tommy, and I've got a green hooptie '77 Chevy Chevelle sedan that I like to drive the snot out of. I have brought it to C&C a time or two, but it's really unrestored and has faded original paint.

So far all the mods to it involve taking the drama out of corners in it with late model Caprice/Impala SS underpinnings and bring it up from the luxury cruiser ride of the '70s to something more appropriate. It sports a whopping 145hp from the original 5.0 (305) V8, has the usual TH350 slushbox and the 'great for top-end' 2.56 gears. I'm more about balanced go than show. I've also got a well-used '95 Explorer with 290,000 miles that is my daily driver/off-pavement toy.

This pic is from Trent taken on the last cruise I was in.

Thanks yall! I look forward for a local group, rather than the forum specific to both cars that tend to be centered around other regions of the country.

Welcome! We had a family car just like that one when I was growing up. I learned to drive in that car. :)
My parents bought a '76 brand new and I came home from the hospital in it a few months later, that managed to survive all the purges of family cars until it and I turned 16, It was my first car, and I drove it for 8 years till rust and reality set it. It was sad to see it go, but it was a true beater by then, and would have taken a fortune and lots of then-unobtanium parts for it to make it right. So I have a soft spot for these era Chevelles.

2 1/2 years ago I stumbled across this one, for the princely sum of $300 bucks. replaced the transmission, rebuilt the suspension, wet-sanded the paint, replaced all the gaskets in the engine, new timing chain, rebuilt the two barrel carb, refurbished the HEI and its as reliable as the sun rise. It's truly a DFW car, as it was built in Arlington, sold in FW and I bought it in Irving from the 2nd owner.

I love that it is very unmolested, just a run-down original car, that I've replaced what needed to be replaced that was either worn out or unsafe. I'm not too thrilled with the metallic green paint and green interior, but I've only seen a handful of 4 doors for sale over the years and most were so ragged out, that my 76 would have been a better starting point.
