Changing the offset of a cast wheel?

Does anyone know if it's possible to have a wheel offset changed? If you have a wheel that is 9.5" wide and has a 35 mm offset is it possible to have some material ground away to get to an offset of 48 mm?

Hmmm... That would be more than a half inch.. I sure wouldn't try it...
