It's time for the monthly Cars and Coffee™ (http://usa.carsandcoffee.info/) event in Texas on Saturday, June 27. Please note the http://epa.gov/epafiles/images/new-en.gif earlier hours: 6:30am-10:30am.

Cars and Coffee had an awesome turnout for their first event held on May 30, so get there early to beat the heat and secure your spot! And don't forget about the Starbucks coffee available -- donations for the coffee will be accepted on behalf of the Greater Dallas Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association (http://www.alz.org/greaterdallas/).

Date: Saturday, June 27 (last Saturday of every month)
Time: 6:30am – 10:30am http://epa.gov/epafiles/images/new-en.gif
Location:
Classic BMW (northwest corner of the parking lot)
6800 Dallas Parkway
Plano, TX 75024

For more information about Cars and Coffee in Texas and some pix from the first event, please visit the forum thread from May 30 (http://www.dfwautoclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=967).

Well, it wasn't me! And I will also be challenged to get there at oh-dark-thirty. But I'm sure the summer heat was a driving factor in the decision.

Who's the genius that picked the butt-crack of dawn start time?

Well, another thought besides the heat factor is that the organizers may be trying to mirror the start time of the original Cars and Coffee event in S. California. They started at 6:30am.

CA is so far behind everyone, that 6:30 AM doesn't really seem that early. :)

Right, plus the distraction to them running a business. I'm quite sure the event pulls a number of people away from their "real" jobs at Classic. Even though the exposure is good for Classic, it has to be a challenge to staff the event with dealer personnel and keep the focus for customers on the showrooms where they make their money. My bro sells for them and I think most of the sales force (and prospective customers) was outside looking at the great cars and not inside selling.

I'll definitely be there but not on the first row!!!

Who's doing the work?
Is Porsche going to warranty the new (bigger) turbos as if they were stock?

Silentrun
06-24-2009, 10:30 PM
Labor and fixing the lifter problem is under warranty...new turbos and clutch is just something I can do while the whole engine is down. Things happen for a reason :) Boardwalk Porsche is doing the work, I trust them implicitly.

....

Are the GT2 turbos bigger?
Will they be Porsche VTG's or aftermarket?
Will you need to re-tune the ecu?
Exhaust?
Sorry for the interrogation, former 996T owner here but I never modded it.
Last Q, did you think about leaving the front driveshaft off, even for a little while? You could throw it in the car, run a couple of sessions at the track and then put it back on. It's the best of both worlds.

Back on topic, I see an 8:30 to 9:30 arrival for me on Saturday.

Silentrun
06-25-2009, 09:27 AM
Boardwalk uses only Sportec mods:

http://www.sportec.ch/page3085.html

Basically, larger VTG turbo units further modified ecu and stronger clutch. I already have a great exhaust the Europipe and the airfilter.

I have heard others removing the driveshaft, it's not a GT2 and never will be mostly because of the ecu telling the car what to do and still transitioning power. Not an expert here, just play one on the internet!!!!

No, No, and No. I'm trying to kick my habit. I'm trying to kick my habit. I'm trying to kick my habit. You are removed from the AA group. It's worse than any drug habit could be. Ugh. FVD wants me to change turbo's. That's the max I can do without some major motor stuff. Not sure if I want to blow $12k on turbo's, or buy a track car and apply $12k to its price. I need neither.

I sure like my shifter on the GT2. That is personal preference. When I drove Shilling's turbo, I couldn't shift half as good as a girl. I think it is more what you are used to. My dos centavos.
