Well I had my car clear bra'd yesterday. I am very pleased with the results and Chris did an excellent job. I went with Chris [DFW Clear Bra] from a recommendation from LonestarS5 after seeing his S5 one Saturday morning. I immediately noticed how well the bra was installed paying close attention to the edges and corners and LonestarS5's car was done perfectly.

I asked him who had done his work and proceeded to give me Chris' number. Chris and I worked together for about a week and finally decided to set a time and date to get the install done. Meanwhile, waiting on the clear bra to arrive I needed to leave town for a while. So Chris decided that him and his wife would drive up [172 miles] away from Dallas to do the install.

Chris did a fantastic job and I'd recommend him and his work for anyone wanting a clear bra done. I had chosen Chris because of the workmanship, price and knowledge of the industry. The product that was used on my 2009 S5 was the XPEL. I liked the XPEL better than my last cars 3M brand because the XPEL did not have as much orange peel as the 3M. The XPEL has a 7 year warranty compared to the 5 year with the 3M. I found other brands as well but I "personally" think they are all about the same and in the end will save you from annoying little rock chips in the long run.

He covered my hood [24"], fenders, and front bumper. I also had wanted the headlights done but Chris didn't get those in time and we plan on having it done this Friday when I come back to Dallas for the weekend.

Here is Chris' information if you'd like to have him install XPEL on your car.

That's about what we payed for the same treatment on the Cayenne with the guy at Stuart's, think it was 3M though. It already saved us from a few nasty rocks, there is one large gash about 2in long from a rock that got kicked up by a truck on I20, I'm sure it would have gone through the paint with how it tore up the plastic. I'm still waiting for a few of the little bubbles to come out of mine after about 2-3 months.

Clear bra's are awesome. Our neighbors fence fell on the front of my wife's X3 last week - it ruined the clear bra but no paint damage.

Ouch! I hope the neighbor is replacing the clear bra.

$800 check from their insurance company. The wife's car is leased so who cares? $800 in the bank. :)

I've never had a clear bra done so forgive my dumb questions.

1. Can a clear bra be removed later down the road if it starts to yellow or anything else?

2. If you get a rock chip in a clearbra what is needed to fix the damage? Do you just leave it or can it be buffed and filled with some type of repair kit?

3. What is the long term effect of having a clear bra on your paint for 5-7 years?

1) They can be removed. It is just a think layer of "clear" film... like window tint.

2) Typically, you just replace the section of the clear bra that has been damaged. Pretty easy procedure.

3) I have not heard of paint being damaged or fade being noticeable from long term clear bra use.

There are not a lot of downsides to the product, except the initial expense.
