What experiences have any of the board members had with the Nitto Invo? My NT05s are bald after 2300 miles and Nitto is offering me 50% off if I go with Invos.
Handling, treadwear, Good, bad, OK
All feedback based on personal experience is welcome.

My NT05s are bald after 2300 milesHoly cow, how did you accomplish that?! Are you tracking your car or just launching hard all the time?

One track weekend and not overly aggressive street driving.

I don't like them on my Shelby. The side walls are soft and my car is heavy. They do hook up pretty well at the top of 2nd though. I've beat on them pretty good and they seem to be holding up well.

I can't imagine the NT05s are any softer than my Dunlop Direzza StarSpecs...And I've put them through 5k+ hard street miles and one very hard track day and there's plenty of tread left to do it all over again a second time.
I've heard good things about the Invos (though they are an older generation tire now) and they should be a little harder compound than the NT05s, but if you wore out the NT05s that quickly, I don't think your tread life will be that much better with the Invos.

Have you considered PS2s?
I'm not a fan, sidewalls are fairly soft and they're rather heavy, but a lot of people swear by them for daily+autocross+track.

I think part of my issue is 500+ lb-ft of torque.

My Invos are growing on me.. They do hook up reeeal well, I think the sidewalls are a bit softer than my previous pilots, f1's and wide ovals.. I just run more psi than before to off set the softer sidewall.. Not a bad tire..

Thanks for the feedback, but apprently the Invos are not in the proper load range for my car. Discount is working with me on any tire they sell. Anyone have experience with the Toyo T1-R or Goodyear F1 Asymmetric? I think Pilots are a bit pricey. Suggestions from those dealing with gobs of torque killing your rear tires would be appreciated.:D

I do like my Nitto 555's. You may want to try them.

Based on the fact that the Invo did not come in the proper load rating for my car, I ended up going with Toyo T1-Rs. We'll see how long they last. Hopefully I manage to get 5K miles out of a set of tires!

The T1R is a considerably harder compound (280 treadwear) than the NT05 (200 treadwear) so you should do better on life now :) . Out of curiosity, was your tire wear even accross the face?

Just found this new thread that somewhat relates to this conversation (Compares the current Nittos): http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=687025

The treadwear was pretty much even across the tire face. The center rib was maybe 1/64" further worn then the side ribs, but that's pretty even in my book.

I use T1-R's they work very well for me, though I normally go through two sets of rears for every front, but I guess thats on me, not the tire.

I've had the Toyo T1R's on my M3 for a while and have been pleased minus some steering wheel vibration. Not sure if the vibration is related to the tires (yet) it's been an ongoing problem with my car.

I had the same problem.. Have you had the tires road force balanced? Discount tire will do this, I believe $30 a tire.. Fixed my problem.

Is the road force balance the norm for Discount Tire or a higher priced option you need to request?

I think you have to call and see if your discount tire even has the machine... if it does, they charge more for it.

hook up pretty good straight line for a true street tire
quiet
excellent in the rain
sidewalls are too soft and handing feels sloppy compared to a ps2

I have the same problem with mine, a slight shimmy in the wheel around 75+ then it stops again around 90. I think mine is from a bent wheel, Classic quoted me more than my wheel costs to fix it, so I think I will just ignore it for now.

They fixed several of my wheels. They will come out to your house or office and remove the wheel from you car, fix it, paint it and put it back on for $100-$200 depending on the damage.

No hub-centric rings available. The wheels are RAC Monolites and custom made specifically for E46 M3's. RAC swears the problem is the tires.. we'll see - next set of tires will be PS2's.
The wheels have been road fvxck balanced 20 fxing times so that's not the issue. :)
