I'm looking into headers and hi flow race cats for my car and wanted to get some feedback from those of you running race cats. 200 CPI cats will flow much better than my stock 400 CPI, but will they still pass emission testing? As I'll have a choice between 100, 200 or 400 CPI, what would you recommend?

TIA

Mike

Are there any applications where you can put a bolt in cat for removal when you don't want it? I want to put cats back on my car using these.

Exhaust Clamp (http://www.jegs.com/p/Dynatech/753318/10002/-1)

I could put an emission compatible cat in then swap it out for a straight pipe the rest of the time.

The header system I'm looking at is supposed to allow a swap in 10 minutes or less

Why not just remove the cats altogether? I've got a guy for inspections...

I'm trying to keep the exhasut tone reasonable and the cats will actually help a bit on that.

I'm not as familiar with the AMG cars but 200 cell is what most use for high flow cats. We've seen a lot of the M5's throw CEL's and emissions fault codes as a result of using these so be aware. I would try to find some amg guys who have done this and had the cats on their car for a while without issues before you start experimenting.

I did that but now my clothes smell like lawn mower gas because I keep them in my garage.

Yeah, I'm a little leary of a CEL, so I'm going to talk to Renntech before doing anything. I think they can disable my rear O2 sensors via the ECU if needed.

Is that a collapsable stock shorty AR? I always liked those. Mine is the HBAR match version. (Better to take people out at 1000 yards.)

To get this thread back on topic, is anyone running 200 cpi metallic cats that can comment on the noise level, performance gain, etc over stock cats?

Nice, I want to get a Socom II by Springfield Armory. We have one of their XD45 and their XD9 which are awesome polymer guns. They make good stuff at great prices but +1 on keeping thread on topic.

Yeah, if they get real far out I've always got the Barett light 50 which is good for 2 inch groupings at 2000 meters.

Mike,

I can take care of your O2 sensor and CEL issues. Get with me this weekend at the meet.

I'm going to be providing local ECU programming for the club.

Regards,

Darren

I run 200 cpi cats on my C6Z, and it passes no problem, took the smell away, quieted it down considerably and only lost 4 hp at the 500 wheel hp level.....

Let me know if you want to know more.

You can fab flanges for easy interchange right? Just like your long tubes?
