I do most of the work on my car. Everything I have tools for. Coil packs are easy, I hope that wasn't too expensive.

I also do most of my own maintenance. If I don't have the tool I need it's a good excuse to buy some new tools.:D

Not sure about the inspection and what it entails. I can get 6 new coils for less than $200 and install is free.

Shops are in business too, if you arent sure how to work on your car, and M3 is an expensive and tricky first car to learn to work on :) Nothing wrong with taking it to a shop!

Agreed...If you don't know what you are doing you can do more harm than good. I still use a shop for some tasks.

These are pretty big projects. Think more basic. :)

I do all my own work except things like dropping the gear box and stuff.

Suspension. I did my M-Coupe, E36 M3, and my C4S. The 2 wheel drives are easy. The C4S was tough. Very tight squeez in the front. Swaping out arms and stuff is also easy. I'm thinking I should invest in a big press so I could work on the bushings also.

Dinan diff swap should be a snap also unless you only got the "diff" and not the whole unit. In that case, you will need to have all kinds of shimms available to make sure everything mesh correctly. Koala do it for $800 I believe.

I also stopped at changing out the cams on the S52. :D Took it to a shop and they still Fxxx up my VANOS and told me it was bad from before. So shops are not always good.

I'm good at some of the domestic stuff. I looked at the M3 and said no thanks. I'm always good at turning wrenches though if anyone needs help.

If you work on your bimmer, a bentley manual is worth its cost ten times over.

I own the Bentley Manual, if you work on your car yourself you need it.

I spoke with Adam the guy with the SRT8 Jeep and he does tinting, but he does the painted application.

Does he do it as a side job or through Autoscope?
