I've seen a few on craigslist. Get an E36 and mod it!

I am having a hard time finding one that is clean for less then $20K in Texas.

Ya, with miles I would be comfortable with I haven't seen many under 24k. Just make sure you get one that isnt SGM, or all the e46's in the club will look the same(even tho its the best color).

You're in it. Why do you want another? Don't waste your money.

It'll put him at ease as this daily driver did:

Not a bad experiment......
I was thinking that too, but we just added another company to our portfolio in the insurance space and their offices are near Deep Ellum in which the parking is limited to street side parking. I will be spliting my time at our main office located at the Galleria office buildings and out there. I don't want to leave my car out to bake or potentially get vandalized!!

Those POS beaters constantly break down and end up costing you way more money than they're worth. They obviously did not show him breaking down on the highway in the middle of rain and/or rush hour traffic so they wouldn't look like an even bigger bunch of retards rollin' around in a busted sh!tbox.
Stupid experiment - only a slimy used car salesman would try to convince you to buy POS beater on purpose.
If you're desperate for a 2nd car, maybe Karen will part with something off her BMW car lot, at least then you'd know where it came from.

Raven, how come you only see the glass as half empy? Damn good excuse to take half day off work when it breaks down. No one at work will be upset for missing work because they know what you drive daily, and they also will not be jealous of your ride and talk about you behind your back. If your kids are with ya' it makes for an exciting special day off! You could buy a fleet of those cars and fix them weekly and still not spend much money and have plenty of backup drives. There are advantages to POSs, at least they make other cars look better. Chill man chill..... it was a great experiment!
Mbow, the car I am considering will not be as pristine as yours. The cars in my price range are pretty ragged out!

That's pretty funny because I was thinking about recommending one of my models to Q, but not selling it to him. :) Q, you can spend alot less cash and get a decent daily driver (one that probably won't get vandalized in your new work area) by getting an e36 or e30 3-series, not the ///M models -- just a plain 3-series (and why not an e46 non-M?). My old 88 e30 325is (with 189K miles) would still be my daily driver today if some jerk hadn't run into it a couple of years ago. Those 1980s era 3- and 5-series (e30 and e28) are like the energizer bunny - some of the best engines BMW ever built (and easy to maintain). Buy one from a long-time BMW CCA member and you'll be golden. :)
Check out this ad on the Lone Star Chapter BMW CCA site -- the president of our chapter is selling his e36 M3 sedan 5-speed with LOTS of goodies. Asking $14,500. If you don't want all the goodies, I might be interested in some of them. :)

Hey Q, did you see this article in the August issue of Car and Driver? The M Coupe is listed as one of the cars along with several others that you'll recognize. Since you want to spend $20K or less, I thought you should check this out.

And after all those breakdowns and high maintenance bills, Q will end up getting fired for tardies and not be able to pay any bills. He will also most likely get to endure many possible rapings and/or robberies at the hands of potential fubar clients after breaking down in the "wrong spots." You're just evil to advise Q to put himself in a situation like that.
BTW Q, if you get a POS beater keep extra condoms in the glove box for your protection, and be sure to bring it to a meet and run it into snowballs' car since he obviously endorses having it and the lifestyle that comes with that type of ownership. :)

Q, is $20k your limit? If you find a nice example with mods would you consider spending a little more?
