So I take my M3 to get washed today. I go over to Aqua Zoom because some others had suggested it. My car was filthy because of the damn office building I work at having run the sprinklers while we're working and my car got hit pretty good. Well unfortunately my M3 has been up here for multiple showers and my Shelby on two different occasions. Aqua Zoom washed the car and just as happened with the Shelby the spots did not come off. Aqua Zoom quoted me $200 to really get the water spots out and I'm guessing it'd be just as much on the Shelby. Next step, since I don't have $400 to drop on the fixing of both my paint jobs I take this up with the management of our office building. They are trying to tell me that they don't feel like they should have to pay for getting my cars fixed, but are willing to reimburse me to have one done. Aqua Zoom told me I've got about two weeks before the calcium deposits get into the clear and then the car would have to be repainted. I'm lucky to be able to pay for my cars and don't have a lot of extra spending cash to just throw around so you can imagine my frustration right now. Rant over. Any suggestions?

You can try claying your car first. If that doesn't work, you can also use Menzerna Super Intense Polish on a blue pad. Then follow up with a good wax.

Menzerma super intensive will certainly take care of it, but you might need to follow up with Menzerma final polish afterwards. Try the claybar first on one area to see if it works. If not, you need to clay before polishing anyway. I've got everything you need to do it if you want to have a go yourself.

Glad you got hooked up man.

I quit using Aquazoom when they scratched up my paint doing a hand wash. Looked like they washed it with sandpaper. Had to have it hand polished back out at their expense. I won't take my 325 back now though because of that. The paint on the truck needs work anyway, so I still take it there, but once we get in our house, it will be hand washes for me.

Clay will not remove hard water spots (calcium deposits) and no matter how bad the spots were, the following line is a load of CRAP!

Aqua Zoom told me I've got about two weeks before the calcium deposits get into the clear and then the car would have to be repainted.

Sorry for being so blunt, but I hate when people lie, just to make a buck.

Well it's funny that you mention your car getting scratched cause I noticed two scratches on the car that I'm almost positive weren't there prior to the wash. And I don't think Aqua Zoom will be getting anymore of my money anyway. Fortunate for me we've got good members here on the forum that know a thing or two about detailing and taking car of paint on cars.

Where is a good place to take your car to get a hand wash though? I don't have the ability to do my own hand washes at my house.

I know this is not a hand wash, but I am resorting to going to a high pressure wash off of Preston and Frankfurt (beside Kwik Car). They have good water pressure and it does a good job.

Not a bad car wash really. I think there is a member here who details cars for a living... I bet he would know, or provide the service.

Take a bucket to a DIY car wash and wash it by hand. Just don't do it while management is around. They don't like it. Actually, take 2 buckets and use the the two bucket wash method.

Might have to start doing that.

I would also like to know this information. I'm not really able to wash my car where I currently live.

Aside from all the rock chips from the damn crap they put down on DNT when it's icy, my car is better than new. Mike definitely knows how to make a car look good. I can't thank him enough for helping me with mine. We need to set up a detailing section so everyone that has knowledge about washing and detailing can share their knowledge. I certainly learned a lot from Mike.

All,

Steve Pasztor (Tropi Care www.tropi-care.com) is a scientist when it comes to detailing. When he gets into the science of it I want to slap him and tell him to just shut up and DO IT (smile)! But, he is the best in my opinion for products, methods, and he does detailing himself. He regularly has a presence at car shows and is happy to come to a group like ours and give us a little siminar on detailing. His No. is 972-743-9443.

We should start a detailing/car care section for some of us to learn more. It would also allow others to post about who they have used and experiences.

I would also recommend Steve and his products... I have known him for a few years now, back when he was a distributor on the side for a company he now directly competes with. :D Great guy and you could eat off of either one of his Vipers. Any part of them. Very detail oriented and does great work!
