I think my car can qualify for this category. I think my car is fast, but I know it probably won't hang with the big boys :bawling: BUT DAMMIT I'M TRYING!

:turtle: crossing, loud and proud. I may not be fast in this car, but I like her just the same.

 to the other "Pace Cars" as Alex put it before!

Plans - Either a C6 Vette, or a Z06 in a couple of years. Then maybe, just maybe I can move up from my current spot at the bottom! LOL Someone has to be in the rear with the gear though. ;)

My M3 won't play with the big boys, but my GT500 makes up for what my M3 lacks. The M3 is fast just not in a straight line.

LOL, I think this may be the only place where 400 HP cars are considered slow, 500 HP cars are just average and 600 HP is the entry point to the big dogs table.

My VW GTi is German made with the 2.0 4 banger, so it is probably at the head of the class. My M3 vert is right up there since it is stock.

Oh well, I guess both of my rides are in this turtle group. They may be M cars, but they are old M cars under 300hp. They still have a great "seat of the pants" feel to me, however, and that's what counts! :)

So if you are calling 400hp slow, I wonder what 240 would be called. Maybe I need to start my own thread and call it the snail group or something. LOL! But hey, it's really how you apex it that counts. :D

it's not about horsepower numbers, it's 60-130 times.

ou! ou! ou!.... pick me!!!! I have a slow car too. It's a 335i Dinan S2. I'll find out my 60 - 130 times after I get rears.

This thread rocks!!!!!!

It's not so much a car as it is an SUV .... But here's my bucket. It only does a good 0-80mph run. LOL!!

And here it is, cutout closed with a little N2O. Still have to sort that out but it should surprise some people :)

I get around...

Haven't made it to Oz yet, but I'll be there for the first 2 weeks of April. Already made it across the pond to London for a week and I'm off to Mexico City tomorrow. Assuming I make it back from Mexico in one piece  .

I have a lowly E39 M5 with no power mods.. feels fast and all that.. till I go to DFW and end up leaving the meet feeling... like I want more power. =)

I love my car though.

Ah... 996 C4S and E36 M3... I think I qualify for this "club." :D

I think Scott's M3 puts down more hp than both of my cars flywheel hp combined.

Ok, Karen....I've got one that I'm sure will be the class of the "snail" group!! 1963 VW Bug - 40 HP! It will barely break the highway speed limit but wins style points.

Jack, my first car was a '59 VW Bug and one time I got it to 63 mph going down hill on a freeway. It had no fuel gauage, no radio, and two fuel tanks. Damn I miss that car.....he he

Oh yeah, Gerald! Talk about simplicity!! It's driving in its simplist form. Well, my Bug is modern by those standards.....it has a radio, gas tank, and even a sunroof!!!!! Mine will actually hit a little over 70 (with the wind at my back), but driving in a crosswind is challenging.

The 1959 model had push button door handles and anti-sway bars! It cut a u-turn in such a small semi-circle, it used to amaze everyone. ;)

I had a buddy in High School that had a sweet little bug with a porche motor in it that was deceptively quick. I was suprised how much room it had in the inside. LOL

JackG
03-09-2009, 04:01 PM
I did the same with a bug about 6 yrs ago. I blew the VW motor on one of my bugs and had a spare Porsche motor....so, voila! But, I quickly discovered the VW gearbox was neither strong enough nor geared right for almost triple the hp! I could start out in 2nd gear it was geared so low for VW, and I'd be going 70 mph at probably red line (no tach, so just guessing). But, it did have plenty of low end grunt!! That, and it was woefully underbraked also.....so, I passed on the project to someone who was interested in taking it to the next level.

There's always someone faster and always someone slower. I would hazard to guess most of the "slow" cars on this forum are still faster than 95% of the cars on the highway. :)

I have one of the last "Old School" Bugs.. It's a 2003 from Mexico, it is my get around car at my house in Cabo.. $6,700 brand new! It does have A/C though! Well kinda, it will cool an additional 20 deg.. I love that little car.. It has pulled 2 4x4's from being stuck on the beach.. One was a Saquoia! lol!! That little thing is amazing.. I bought it to sneak back in the U.S once I get my FM3 residency card, I want to stick a turbo 2.0 in it:thumbsup2:
