Hey guys!

I have a 2009 M3 with some 20inch Klassen wheels. I am having a problem with the steering wheel shaking from 65-70 thru 100mph..... I have had the tires road-forced, Replaced the inner and outer hubs on the wheels. The tires have about 4000 miles on them. Some of the guys at Discount Tire are saying that those tires are not a good build and I should buy some Michelin tires...... I thought about having them order some new Toyos.... Do I need hubcentric rings? At this point I am becoming frustrated........ Any help would be great.....

It has been lowered on R and D sport springs.....

Thanks

What was the out come of the road force balance? Were the tires with in spec as far as true roundness? I have had a bad set of tires before and they were out of round .26 of an inch. .25 is within most manufacturers specs.

Feel your pain, this has been long standing problem on my car. I also currently have T1R's and my wheel is shaking as well. I have a set of oem wheels with PS2's and when I put them on it's fine. I have RAC Monolite wheels, which are made for my car so I doubt the wheels are the issue. I'm planning to get PS2's soon and hopefully that solves the problem. If you need hubcentric rings you will know it when you place the wheel on the hub, it should be a perfect fit as is - not familiar with the wheels tho. Did you have the car aligned after the new springs were installed?

Yea the car had the alinged at Autoscope....... After the lowering. They told me they did...What do you mean you would know when you put the tire on?

BMW's have a centering ring on the hub that should match the wheel, whoever sold you the wheels should have told you if hubcentric rings are required. When you install your wheels - the wheel will first rest on the ring sticking out from the hub.. then you insert the 5 lug bolts and tighten them down. When you place the wheel on the hub does it seem to fit? Can you move it up and down with noticeable clearance? Have you ever personally taken the wheel on/off your car? If Discount Tire took your wheels on/off the car one would hope they would notice a significant enough gap that required hubcentric rings. Try putting your oem wheels back on and if the problem goes away you will narrow the problem to the wheels or tires.

Who did you buy the wheels from? It looks like Wheelexperts sells Klassen. Please call Peter @ Wheelexperts and he can probably troubleshoot this for you very quickly.

I have never had a problem with my Toyo's this is the 3rd set I have had on my M3, and in general they have been a great tire, so far everytime I have wheel shake it has been from a bent rim, or a wheel weight falling off.

Dunno, unless the roads you're on are pretty crappy it shouldn't shake at all. I'm getting PS2's soon and if that doesn't fix mine I may just put my oem wheels back on since I know that setup is fine.

That is wide and very low profile. I bet you feel a piece of hair if you ran over it. M cars are very sensitive

hold on so first off are the wheels hubcentric or not? If they are not and with that size on an m3 you probably will never get rid of all the shaking. Also with the balance how did they do it? Weights on just the outer barrel? it needs to be balanced correctly with weights, **** i forget what its called.
