I recently discovered that the oem BMW mirrors that have a compass can be manipulated to allow the V1 display to illuminate from behind the glass, with the same two way mirror effect we were able to achieve with the custom glass mplulse at Glass Doctor has been providing me, and retain 100% of the factory mirror's functionality.. including auto dimming. With the glass Brad has been using to fab the mirrors so far no one has had any issues with excessive glare, however if we're able to retain the auto dimming function in certain applications we're happy to do it. Keeping the compass display along with the new V1 display installed is optional. Here's a few pics of Total Building's mirror for his E92 M3. We installed the main V1 unit inside the rear passenger headrest and after testing the radar detector has retained 100% of it's signal reception for radar, you give up laser protection doing it this way - although most agree laser detectors are not effective at preventing tickets. Neil had a laser jammer installed recently, which is recommended with this setup. :thumbsup2:
