I recently discovered that the oem BMW mirrors that have a compass can be manipulated to allow the V1 display to illuminate from behind the glass, with the same two way mirror effect we were able to achieve with the custom glass mplulse at Glass Doctor has been providing me, and retain 100% of the factory mirror's functionality.. including auto dimming. With the glass Brad has been using to fab the mirrors so far no one has had any issues with excessive glare, however if we're able to retain the auto dimming function in certain applications we're happy to do it. Keeping the compass display along with the new V1 display installed is optional. Here's a few pics of Total Building's mirror for his E92 M3. We installed the main V1 unit inside the rear passenger headrest and after testing the radar detector has retained 100% of it's signal reception for radar, you give up laser protection doing it this way - although most agree laser detectors are not effective at preventing tickets. Neil had a laser jammer installed recently, which is recommended with this setup. :thumbsup2:

Sure just need to know what car you own as there are a few options available for certain cars.

A standard V1 Concealed Display Mirror install retails for $499, DFWAC members get a $100 discount ($399) and free installation assistance.

Required Parts

Valentine 1 Radar Detector $399
V1 Concealed Display $39
V1 Remote Audio Adapter $49

The V1 main unit has to be hidden somewhere out of sight, but in a location where radar reception will not be affected. As long as there is no metal between the radar detector and radar signal it will work fine. The preferred location for installing the V1 is inside the headliner. If there isn't enough room available or if the metal cross rails in the roof obstruct reception we will move to the next best location, which is a rear center or passenger headrest. For most cars one of these two locations will work. In the event that those options are exhausted a custom enclosure that rests on top the rear deck can easily be fabricated and effectively conceal the unit.

If anyone else is interested in this setup let me know what questions you have and I'll be happy to give you more details. :)
