View Full Version : Help with Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta tires
I have an opportunity to buy four for $799. I do not know much about them other then what I have read online. Would anyone have any real world experience with them? If so, what do/did you think of them? Thanks!

They have great reviews for the price on most of the forums. I just started looking for new rears for my M, is it just me or did the price on 275/30/19 just go way down. Wonder if some other car comes with that size stock now to bring down the prices.

The Vreds are a real bargain compared to most tires out there. I'm shopping 19s for my car and can fit the Vreds for a couple hundred less than any other tire I would run.

I know that is an older post but anyways...
I'm having some Ultrac Sessantas mounted tomorrow morning. I've heard great reviews on them and they also saved me nearly $400 over the Pilot PS2s.
I ended up purchasing 2x 255/35/18 and 2x 275/35/18 for my M3.
I'll try to post a review after I've put some miles on them.

Hey Mack...Thanks. Look forward to hearing your review. Thanks!

Many of the people (maybe 25) from the initial RAC wheel group buy (wheel delivery December) bought Vredestein's. The comments compared to PS2's are: stiffer ride, maybe a little noisier, they take several hundred miles to really break in, turn in is better, they stick every bit as well. Here's the main discussion thread: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=268043
There are several guys in Houston that bought the RAC wheels in the the initial group buy and mounted Vredestein's, but I'm not aware of anyone up here except for Mack211 that has them.

Got my Vreds mounted Friday. It is still too early to give a proper review but here are a few pics of them installed. Sorry for the quality these were taken with my Droid.

definitely looks that way. They resemble the Toyo T1R's.

They use what Vredestein calls sophisticated longitudinal design (SLD).
The tires are asymmetrical but not directional with the 'SLD' separate left and right side tires are not needed.

They look a little funny to me.. Hard to believe they would handle exactly the same from right to left..

By all reports they work very well in the rain. I just ordered some myself.

It seems like Vredestein cheaped out and didn't make an inverse mold so the tread would feed water in the same direction ... but they work well as they are.
I'm on my second set of rears and got 7,500 out of the first set. That was really exciting, since I usually get about 5k from Pirelli Corsa's, Michelin PS2's, Goodyear GS-D3's and Bridgestone RE-050's.
On this car, I can only compare the Vred's to the Corsa's. The Corsa is an R compound rated 60 and the Vred's are rated 280. Although I don't put much into the treadwear ratings because they do vary from company to company, Vredestein got that part right, they last longer (2k miles) than the Corsa's.
There's hardly a comparison between the tires in any other category, but I don't drive hard enough on the street to take advantage of the Corsa's so I save $300 per tire and run the Vred's.
The Vred's work extremely well in the rain, they corner nicely without rolling the shoulder in the dry, traction is excellent except in the coldest weather, then they get hard (just like all the other tires mentioned), the noise level is no problem at all.
I'd recommend these tires to any performance enthusiast, unless you like to street race, in which case you need to pony up for the high cost, soft rubber tires for safety's sake.

So you trailered the M3 down to Dallas Raceway?
Tell me you put a hitch on the E55!
That is hard core!

No trailer, I folded my rear seats and crammed the DR's, jack and tools into my trunk and changed wheels after I got to the track. :)

For Vredestein tires I'd recommend going direct to the SW distributor in this area:
