Some people think I am crazy and some think I not so crazy. None the less I will let you decide. I love clean rides and whenever it rains, I will take my vehicles, M6, 335I and Chevy 4x4 and put them out in the rain, usually after I know I will not drive anymore that day. After a good rain rinsing, I will grab my wash mitten with a little car wash soap and run it quickly over the car, this takes a full 2 minutes max per car. Then I let mother nature's soft water rinse it and when she's done, I move the just rinsed ride into the garage and shut the door. Come morning time, the vehicles look like it just got detailed, not one water spot. The only down fall is, if it's raining the next day and you need to drive someplace, you wasted a few minutes of your time. But if it's clear the next day, you saved 30 minutes or more and you have a perfect, sparkling clean car. I encourage anyone to try this and you just may make it a habit. Now I never do this in a down pour, I always wait for a short break in the rain. Oh Ya, I use only "California Rain" but rain is rain, right. Have I lost my rocker, maybe, but I always have the cleanest ride in town. Now when I have to wash my ride when rain is nowhere in sight, I do use only soft water. After the washing, I don't dry it, but grab my professional "Leaf Blower" hitting it with 90 mph wind eliminating the need to dry it. This alone saves time and gets in all the places that can drip water when you hit the road. Now if you don't have an enclosure to hide your ride while it's drying, even letting it sit out after being washed will give you the same clean results. Sometimes the next day the car is not totally dry and you may want to hit it with your dying towel to finish it off. NOTE: A few of my friends have tried this rain method and have made it a habit. If anyone gets hooked on this, or you already know this crazy method, let me know. And if anyone thinks it's off the scale a bit, you have to try it first before commenting.

May be useful for us right now since the weather is so awful here at the moment

can't imagine this working, rain = spot-o-rama. maybe if the guy added another step and rinsed with one of Mike's spotless rinse setups.

Yeah, if our rain water was like in Oregon...Just ask Snowball about that water...the rain is like the water coming out of my rinse systems!

Yep I had a black car in Portland, Oregon and it would look spotless after a rain:). Rain here and you're guaranteed to get spots......:(

I live in Anna, the rain water actually leaves less residue than the tap water. Tap water here leaves a kind of greasy water spot. I'm going to look into some sort of water filter for my outside faucet.
