Well today was interesting, the passenger side rear tire on the hawk blew out on the highway... Luckily I was able to keep control, some pics of the aftermath...

They found a large nail in the bottom of the tire shreds, popped at 80mph on 121 south

Pics of the new tires :D not amazing but it shows how much better they are compared to the others... they're 20mm wider

It had probably been riding low for awhile. That's the problem w/ low profile tires, they go flat and you don't see/feel it until something like this happens.

damn glad you didn't get hurt. I've never seen a tire separate like that.

It has gone flat a few times before, was just too old and wasn't holding air anymore, I had to fill it up about every 3 days. Probably weakened the sidewall quite a bit so that even something like a nail made it just go :(

Thanks Scott, I got out of the car (a good 3 minutes later after calmin down lol) and saw that had could only think "WTF"

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner.. :thumbsup2:

This is exactly what happens when any tire is run flat. The tire runs low, the rim runs like a knife along the sidewall(s) until it cuts all the way through.

Glad you are ok and it didn't happen when you could keep it under control!:driver:

Let these pictures help all of us keep an eye on our tire pressures!

TPM don't always work correctly... :banghead:

Be safe!
