Oil Wars!

Iv always used mobil 1 fully syn and changed by 5000 miles

but im hearing that this new castrol edge is better then mobil one and has a 1 year / 15k miles oil change

hell do they even make oil filters that last that long?

Thoughts? Comments?

I've always been of the impression that you still need to change the oil filter at the normal intervals when running extended life motor oil.

Hmm. I'd do every 10K and that makes it easy to remember. As a lot of cars these days say 7.5K oil chages the filter should be good for that, plus a bit more as they have to engineer a fudge factor in there. I think a good quality filter should handle 10k miles OK. I've been running Castrol Syntec for years and do the 5K oil changes myself.

I'm ready to try the Castrol Edge on my next oil change too. Personally I'll still stick to the 5K oil changes until I read more about it and get a feel for it. They've been selling it in the UK for while now apparently.
