OK, I decided to join a few other club members on a "spirited" drive Thursday, led by SAFE4NOW. Well our drive became an adventure in rally racing due to some construction and if you ask any of the members that were involved, all our cars were absolutely filthy afterwards. That evening, DFWAC member Silentrun dropped off his Guards Red 911 TT for a stage 1 detail. The amount of dust, dirt, tar and oil on our cars was enough to make you sick. At one point I think Silentrun's 997 TT was doing grader duty. Some before pics are below, but they don't really do a good job of depicting how dirty the car really was!

So now it was time to wash the Porsche down and get into the detail. Since we were only doing a stage 1, the plan of attack was as follows.
Rinse the car off with a pressure washer to get the 1/8" thick layer of dust and dirt off the surface.
Spray the wheels with P21s Gel Wheel Cleaner (http://www.kqzyfj.com/click-3596920-10509474?url=http://www.autogeek.net/p2wheelclean.html), let it soak a little and aggitiate with a Daytona Wheel Brush (http://www.kqzyfj.com/click-3596920-10509474?url=http://www.autogeek.net/ezdebrfca.html) and Microfiber Wash Mitt (http://www.kqzyfj.com/click-3596920-10509474?url=http://www.autogeek.net/cobra-blue-microfiber-mitt.html). The Champion RG57 wheels on this 911 Turbo are gorgeous, but they take some time to clean!
Rinse off the wheels with the pressure washer using deionized water.
Next, it was time to hit the entire car with the foam gun to let the soap subs work the remaining dirt loose.
After letting the foam gun do it's thing, I washed the car using two buckets with dual grit guards in each one.
The car was rinsed off and then final rinsed using DI water.
I let the exterior dry overnight while I cleaned the interior. The interior was vacuumed and dusted. All leather surfaces were cleaned and conditioned using Lexol Leather Cleaner (http://www.kqzyfj.com/click-3596920-10509474?url=http://www.autogeek.net/lexsprayleat.html) and Lexol Leather Conditioner (http://www.kqzyfj.com/click-3596920-10509474?url=http://www.autogeek.net/lexsprayleat1.html).
The next morning I clay barred the car and got ready to polish it.
Since this was a Stage 1, I used Menzerna Super Finish Polish (http://www.kqzyfj.com/click-3596920-10509474?url=http://www.autogeek.net/menzerna-nano-polish-po-106-fa-finishing-polish.html) as this polish provides a great balance of cut and finish gloss.
After polishing the car and correcting 95%+ of the paint defects, I chose P21s Concours Carnauba Wax (http://www.kqzyfj.com/click-3596920-10509474?url=http://www.autogeek.net/p2concarwax.html) as the top coat and protection. I chose the P21s wax based on the color of the car and the depth it brings to the paint.
Once waxed, the windows were cleaned using Stoner's Invisible Glass (http://www.kqzyfj.com/click-3596920-10509474?url=http://www.autogeek.net/glass-cleaner.html) and a Waffle Weave Glass Towel (http://www.kqzyfj.com/click-3596920-10509474?url=http://www.autogeek.net/ww1627.html).
The tires were dressed with Pinnacle Black Onyx Tire Gel (http://www.kqzyfj.com/click-3596920-10509474?url=http://www.autogeek.net/piblontigel.html)
Exhaust tips were cleaned up and polished using Eagle One Nevr Dull wadding polish.
Once the car was finished, it was time to take some pictures. Enjoy the after pics!
