These tires are made in South Carolina , USA ..

SEE THROUGH TIRES a radical new tire design by Michelin. The next generation of tires. They had a pair at the Philadelphia car show.

These tires are airless and are scheduled to be out on the market very soon.

The bad news for Police and other law enforcement is that stinger spikes will not work on these.

Just think of the impact on existing technology:
A. No more air valves...
B. No more air compressors at Petrol stations...
C. No more repair kits...
D. No more flat tires...
E.. Less expensive and more money in the drivers pocket.

Came to me via e-mail. Those pictures sure look legit, though. I have seen articles in the past about a tire design such as this, but I've never seen action pictures before. It looks like they are moving towards a production version.

These are for real. They use this design on the new Genie boom lifts, though I guess that has absolutely no performance relation to these. I wonder what wears out first, the tread or the suspension bars.

Dammit, every time I see your RS4 I wish I had one...:thumbsup2:

These pics/info have been around for over a year. I'm not sure if they've reached a consumer market yet, but I'm wondering if the production version will have open or closed sidewalls. I think an open sidewall would be problematic as debris could get in there and throw off the balance and what not.

As far as performance applications, I can see these being full of fail as playing with tire pressures is a big aspect of tuning, so unless you bring along a trailer full of different stiffness airless tires, it ain't gonna work out well.
