Got to test drive a Z8 today...

I've always been a big fan of the Z8 but never had a chance to sit in one much less drive one. Got a chance to do both today and I was not let down. Sucks they don't have a LSD but they would make a great GT car. I would love to take a road trip in one. Very cool cars.

I also got to drive a Pana Turbo, very quick but just not a fan of the rear end.

Yeah like the Z8 too, jealous LOL. But, that much power to weight ratio and no LSD?! Guess that maybe one of my peaves with BMW, they're stingy with giving out the LSD's. And they are only 25% max locking. However I was surprized how well the 25% locking does work. I think my 540 should have an LSD, expected anything with the S62 in to have that. Love the formula of the Z8 though, "smallish" roadster with big engine!

Throw a quality aftermarket LSD on it, problem solved.

Ya, what's crazy is after reading and watching so many bad reviews on the car and its power to weight ratio and handling etc. I really wasn't expecting much but I was impressed with its getup and go considering it's the same drive-train in my M5.

Can you just touch it momentarily and it will keep the starter engaged until the motor catches?

Ya, just figure that as much as that car costs it should come with an LSD from the factory. I've seen a couple of E39 M5's for parting out on Craigs in the past couple of months. Thinking of buying an M-diff for the 540. Think about $1500 is the going rate for a used E39 LSD.
