Well guys it looks like my SL65 is very sick. After all the repairs were done to it I took it back to the dyno where I had originally run it. Stock before was 528HP, post repairs...well the graph speaks for itself. 456HP tops, timing majorly getting pulled into the first run. 2nd run timing pulled throughout. It's running leaner than it should, mercedes always has thier cars running very rich. Some backfiring now and then. Sigh...

Robert,
Sorry to hear that, but it confirms what we saw on Satuday at Autoscope. Let's hope it can be easily remedied.

Pretty much everything forward of the motor was replaced. Even some parts on the motor itself were replaced. Repairs were $40k. It feels slower on the top end, doesn't pull as hard. I had a sneaking suspicion when I first got it back and onto 2 mile bridge by my house where I do speed limiter runs. It took a lot longer to get to 155 even with cooler air and the top up. Darren walked me in his M5 on the way to the dyno, he was happy, but don't get too comfy there as we both know I'm short 72 rwhp on my best run. :)
I have an appointment on Tues to drop it off for the week. They have a few people coming in to look at it including the regional director and their SLR master tech. I guess that means he's pretty good.

I would hope the master tech is good if he's working on SLRs.

Since you replaced so much, did you have to "break it in" again?

Yes I did. Foot -> Floor. I put her back in the garage hot.

Well guys I think I have this figured out. I did some data logging this morning on a nice cool 46F day. IATs are idling at 86+C and after a short 120mph run 100+C. That's about oh, double what they should be. Nice job Ewing. The intercooler system doesn't even work.

sorry I missed it. What happened? Do you have any pics of the damages?

You better get in their ear and have them get it right!

Well it still sits in the shop. I was told it was "done" Thursday, but from what they said they repaired I was skeptical. They bled one of the turbos and reset the fan for the IC. So I took my datalogger with me. Plugged it in and took it around the block. Wasn't able to get any long high speed runs in. It was enough though and 10 minutes later I took it back and said it still isn't fixed. Though there was improvement this time. Instead of averaging 89C on a 46F day I was averaging 73C on a 81F day. Still out of whack. They've been ripping it apart since and found some more things wrong with the IC system requiring new parts. The wait continues.

Wow.
What a saga. I hope they're making the payments while it sits.
Nice day today for your new toy!

As broken up as your graph is, it looks like knock retard.. Is there any way to log it and see if it's pulling timing?
Hope it feels better soon.. the intercooler can have a great impact on those cars.. whenever my car is hot, it doesn't feel the same and alot heavier

Hey Robert, long time no chat! Really sorry to hear about the situation with your car. That just sucks. Best of luck getting everything back to normal.
