Finished this tonight and thought I'd post up a few pics. The button on the bottom of the mirror is a mute switch. This mod is available for pretty much any car. DFWAC Members get discounted pricing. :)

Super clean! Scott, is there anything you can do while in there to increase the remote range? (The oval mirrors are notorious for having really poor range and have been superceded by the more rectangular ones -- The oval ones are much nice to look at, though, IMHO)

These actually do not have the antenna for the remote. I'm not sure where they put them on the M3 verts but it's not in the mirror. I'd be happy to try to do something for yours, maybe extend the antenna somehow. :dontknow:

Can the rectanlge ones be fitted in the E39 M5? I have a thing against oval shaped stuff LOL. (think it looks feminine) I like the regular rectangle mirror on my 540 much better, and the door mirrors too.

Nice job! I have this in my "back burner" list of items to get. I'll let you know when I'm ready. I need to research mirror style shape options too as I'm not a fan of the oval shape.

I can put it in any BMW mirror. I actually have a rectangle mirror already built that came out of Brad's M5 when he sold it. I was going to sell it for $299 (display included) just to get it off my desk. I'll give you first dibs Nick if you want it.

Hmm, very tempting. Is it plug and play to the oval mirror mount? (02 E39 M5) Not sure if I can make this Sat's upcoming meet yet, but I'm going to try. If so bring it up there and I'll check it out.

Is the stock autodimming kept in-tact with these conversions?
They look great.

Yes, plug and play. Installation is free. :thumbsup2:

Auto dimming is usually lost , but there are exceptions.
Current gen BMW's with the compass in the mirror retain auto dimming. There may be others.

LOL. I wasn't even going chance jinxing making to this weeks meet by saying I could come but being as this mirror thing popped up and my schedule is open right now I'll try and be there.
Now I'm assuming I still need a V1 "head" unit to drive the display right?

Yes the display is an accessory and a separate V1 is required. Concealing the V1 inside a rear headrest is recommeded. Link to install thread.
