Poor Darrin.. Dinan's stroker kit is a flop.. He could of bought a Z06 for the money he spent on that stroker conversion. I was never impressed with the Dinan stuff.

Well Brad, I think you got some extra HP in your engine. My M5 will walk a stock Z06, so I did a few runs with Darren last nite.. Run 1: He pulled away by 4 car lengths going from 45 to 130. Run 2: He pulled away about the same distance, but started slowing a bit from 130 to 180. However, the 3rd run, his car must have been hot, because we stayed even most of the way, and then started leading by half a car at the end. So I think you should go down and get your car dyno'd to see what kind of HP you are putting down!

A stock C6 Z06 weighs approx. 600lbs. less than a new M5. The M5 is rated at 500hp at the crank, so I'm sure it loses at least 50hp to the wheels...as does the Z06. With the weight advantage to the Vette and power being comparable....there must be some seriously no-driving Z06 owners running around DFW. :hmmmm2:

I believe in most cases if the vette does not win, it is a non shifting driver...:driver:

I have seen stock C6Z06 run low 11s in the 1/4. The is no way a M5 can get even close to those times.

i find it a bit hard to believe that a stock M5 would stand a chance against a C6Z06. my C6Z put 446 rwhp to the ground and i rarely ever lost a race against a stock car including 996tt, 997tt, ford gt, vipers, ect.


btw, if the black Z06 is adam formerly of autoscope, i lost to him in an 08 viper. i had a passenger, he didnt. and not surprisingly since i usually won against the 600 hp vipers in my C6Z.

Abnormal or not. I highly doubt that it made up for the huge weight advantage of the Vette. Stock to stock...the M5 has no chance, without really laughable driving by the Vette.

he was alone in the car, i was alone in the car. we went at it 7 times to eliminate errors. i was 5 out of 7.

my neighbor and another close friend have 08 coupes as well and similar results.

the viper

1. weighs 300 pounds more
2. has taller overall gearing
3. wheel hops more
4. has less rpm to work with
5. has horrible shifter
6. harder to pilot well than the Z

even then, on a roll on, with both cars hooked up and no driver error, the viper cannot pull on a Z.

iv owned a gen 3 viper, a c6z and have several hundred miles behind the wheel of a gen 4 viper. i have no horse in this race, it is what it is. if you want to provide the vehicles, i will gladly take you up on a demonstration.

the viper has 100 more hp and 70 or so more tq but it has the above working against it. have you done this first hand or just going by what you read?

When my Gen 3 Viper was stock, Matt and I raced before his larger S/C. He would pull out as soon as we shifted to 4th. GT's make what...525sh to the wheels? Stock to stock with equal drivers, the GT will walk out on a stock Gen 3. And Gen 4 Viper would be a better race, but the GT should still pull a bit.

Hey crash, it's all in the name of fun. We can do a motor run too, but i know i cant touch a 131 mph car on motor.. Btw, at aprox what mph is the top of each of your gears? Just trying to see how they compare

wheel size means nothing:) what size tire? since the size of the tire can vary on the wheel. If you know the dimensions of the tire i can guestimate the diameter.

I think on motor he will pull me.. i know with the big tires out back im not putting down more then 480 rwhp.. no way am i going to pull a 131 mph car with that little power... But bottle to boost should be a good run:)
