The Ford GT that previously held the world record for 255mph fell today. I young gentleman from Austin Texas named Ray Hoffman, running a lightly modified Ford GT ran 266.9 mph into an 18mph head wind.
Tell the supra boys to BRING IT.

Ray lives in Midland. Congrats to him and Heffner. I'm guessing he did this in the same yellow/black FGT he went 249mph in last month. :thumbsup2:

Yep, the yellow GT hit that number. I have not heard about any drivetrain problems yet. They are still running out there.

Ray is running a "dog box" transmission. It should hold up for a few mile pulls.

Oooo, I just found out that he actually ran 269.9 on Thursdays during testing (less head winds) but his Sunday run is the only one that counted.
The cars sounds incredible. I've never heard anything like it. It is running a 13.5/1 compression with, I guessing, 35+ lbs of boost... it is probably overbored to 6.0L and revs to 9000 rpm.

My car would sound like an atomic bomb at the mile marker. That GT is smooth as glass. Truly impressive machine.

Unbelievable. Just read that he hit 271 in testing, not sure if it's confirmed or not.
What kind of tires is he using? I can't imagine a set lasting for more than a few runs. Scary stuff.
