So did you have cancer? Maybe a dumb question, but I'm guessing you did if that is your license plate.

Congrats on being a survivor!! My grandfather was not..I know how hard it can be to fight it and raising money by having a car show is a fantastic idea.

Please let me know, I will attend :thumbsup2:

My father is five years and going strong, my girlfreind's mom beat breast cancer and has been free and clear for almost ten years now. Oddly enough, if you talk to them, you'd never know. At least you wouldn't with my dad.

My grandfather lost his fight, though.

I'm sorry for both of your losses, I have lost both of my grandfathers to cancer, loosing one the same year I was "cured", talk about feeling guilty. Hearing these stories, both good and bad, is what has given me the drive to keep this going, it's amazing how many people are affected by cancer.

Thank you all for the support, and I hope to have a new first post sometime today. I have added the link to the website my buddy Jeff and I have been working on to my signature, and I'm just trying to get a simple graphic that I can use as the first post.

Looks like my chances of attending these is going to be pretty slim until after my wedding. I will try to sneak out for a few of them, if only for a drive-by, when I can.

Dude what happened to the Cancer Car show being at Twin Peaks or something?

^^^ Yes, a huge weight has been lifted off of our family. We are blessed that the results were negative. A simple blood test alerted us to the possible problem with my prostate. I would encourage all to take the same precautions as I do. This cancer does run in my family.

I heard, that after a biopsy, you should have the prostate checked on a weekly basis. :hahaha:

* glad it came back negative. :thumbsup2:

Why isn't the show at Twin Peaks anymore?

My show was never at Twin Peaks, and I have not heard of a show at Twin Peaks in support of some cancer organization. I just did a quick search and nothing came up.

Was it always at TGI Fridays? I thought it was originally going to be somewhere else. Maybe I'm way wrong here.

When I first started the planning, I did not have a specific place in mind. The only other place that I could have mentioned is where it was last year, The Filling Station. Twin Peaks does hold car shows, I am just not finding one that is coming up, and I don't see much of anything regarding cancer support.

They're obviously b00b supporters so you'd think they'd support breast cancer. TGI Fridays works for me and it's right down the street from my work.

Updated the first post to include the flier... Hope to see y'all out there, sorry I haven't made the weekly meets on Saturdays, but I may try to swing by before my wedding this week... ;)

Got back from my honeymoon really late Thursday night, spent most of yesterday trying to finalize a few things. Talked with Pam, the manager of the Cvetko Center, and found that we have already raised $900...

Let's keep getting the word out, I am going to a show in Garland this morning, and I believe there is the Monthly Muscle Show this evening in Plano. Finally, if you are interested in helping out with the show, send me a PM and I will give you my cell phone number. It looks like I may need some help with the basics at the registration table.

Finally, for door prizes, we have the following:

- Free tire balance/rotation at Discount Tire in The Colony (2x)
- Golf Bag
- The Detail Dude detail packages (unknown qty.)
- Dallas Eye Care $250 discount for Ray-Ban sunglasses (can be used for normal sunglasses or perscription)

Car's cleaned and I'm just going to finish getting ready and should be out there by noon. I'll have a sign up on Belt Line, just East of DNT. We should have everything ready to go for the first participants before 3:00p. If you aren't showing, feel free to come on by and enjoy the cars and good food for a bit.

Sorry for the extended delay in posting a status update on how things went, I'm still recovering from my wedding, honeymoon and the car show, but I wanted to make sure I got to everyone and let them know the details...

First, let me thank everyone who came out and participated in this show, we had some really cool cars (and bikes and trucks) out there. I would also like to thank everyone who donated, the money will go a long way to helping local families dealing with cancer and the aftermath it leaves.

Second, we ended up raising, at this point, ~$2,500, and we are still getting checks in. If you missed the show, but feel inclined to donate, please visit the website, www.ncsdcarshow.org, for details on where to send your check.

Finally, I am still collecting all the pictures taken at the event and will be posting them on the website and through my Picasa account. If you have any pictures you would be willing to share, please PM me. I hope to get the links posted over the weekend, but we will see since this is Father's Day weekend and the wife already has most of my time booked.

Thank you again to everyone, and have a great weekend.
