Mark your calendars! The annual Cooper Aerobics Center Car Show will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2009. Last year, they had over 170 cars entered and expect more this year. My little green monster was an entrant last year and Peter of WheelExperts also had a booth there. It's a great event and our own forum member, JackG, is the co-founder and co-producer of the event. I'm sure he'll post more details as we get closer to the date. I believe the location will be the same as last year's June show at their Preston Rd facility (just south of 635).

So now we've got two Sundays taken care of in June for car shows -- this one on June 14 and also the 2nd Annual National Cancer Survivors Day Car Show on Sunday, June 7. Get those cars cleaned up for these concours events! :)

Thanks you guys (and gal!) for the plug. I'm working on this yrs event and it will be a great one. No rain allowed!! The Cooper campus is a beautiful place for our event. Since I do have a little influence, if we want to have a special place for the club, I can arrange it. Or, otherwise the cars will be grouped by country as in the past. The Cooper Clinic is part of the Cooper Aerobic Center, as is the workout facility, guest lodge, etc., etc. Great facility if you haven't been there. It's located on Preston Rd., just no. of Forest Ln. It will be a noon to four event and like in the past will have vendor tents for companies like Bombardier Jets, Bachendorf, AutoScope, Park Place, Boardwalk, GM (if they are still GM!) etc., etc. If anyone would like to know about a vendor booth for their company just let me know and I'll get the info to you.....

Jack has agreed to set aside a special section at this event dedicated to DFW Auto Club cars if there is enough interest. There is a nominal $20 fee per car to participate - proceeds from the event benefit the Scottish Rite Hospital and Cooper Aerobics Clinic. If you would like to participate please let us know asap so Jack will have an idea of how many cars to expect.

Count me in! I'll donate the $20 just because it's a good cause. Getting to show off the car is just a bonus.

Terrific! Last year we had 170 total cars and over 500 visitors. Texas Scottish Rite Hosp loves the event and I really love their work so I got them involved from the start. The Cooper campus, with all the trees and grass is such a great venue and everyone has a great time. I'd like to grow the show to 500 or more cars since we only used about 1/4 of the land available. Last yr we had everything from Ferrari, BMW, Lambo, collections to a collection of Checker cars! Real variety. I'll post the sign-in website as soon as it's activated.

Just got the registration info tonight (see below). Hope some DFWAC members can make it! At the very least, please come visit us die-hard concours junkies that will be in the show.

Autos in the Park
Sunday, June 14 - Noon to 4 PM
Registration Information

We trust you have Sunday, June 14 on your calendar - that's when the 4th annual Autos in the Park car show will be held at the Cooper Aerobics Center, 12200 Preston Road, Dallas, Texas, 75230.

To register, please send an email to:

carshow@cooperaerobics.com

Tell us the year and make of your car, its special features and your name, address and phone.

Registration is $20 per car with proceeds benefiting two prominent Dallas area non-profits: Texas Scottish Rite Hospital and The Cooper Institute. You may send your check (payable to Cooper Aerobics Enterprises) to Tom Stumpf, Cooper Aerobics Enterprises, 12200 Preston Road, Dallas, Texas 75230 or pay the day of the show.

Plan on arriving between 10 and 11:30 AM. Our goal is to have all cars in place by the noon start. We will provide arrival gate information into the Cooper campus based on the car's country of origin at a later date.

Listening to your suggestions from last year, Tyler's Cafe located in the Cooper Fitness Center will be open. There you'll find fresh salads, pocket pizzas, sandwiches, snacks, assorted frozen desserts, bottled water, juices and fountain drinks.

Please forward this e-mail to others you know who might want to attend or exhibit at the event.

If you have an automotive or lifestyle product or service you would like to display at the show, please email Jack Griffin (griff@airmail.net) for exhibitor information.

Regards,
Tom Stumpf

We need to get a list going of who's planning to attend. I think Jack said we can have an exclusive section set aside for the DFWAC. Need to get a banner made and some flyers.

That would be great. We've already got a great group of cars entered.....even several vintage fire engines!!!!!!! Hacienda Ranch came on board today as a vendor to be there and give away food. If I know a few days in advance of the show how many to expect, I'll have a place all earmarked for tha group.

Well, I am obviously out of my cast.. heh. So I plan of being there. This a great show with a large number of cars from every class. Lots of pre-1920s autos and many interesting car clubs, Lotus, Maserati, Ferrari, ect...

We have a huge number of cars signed up; as of this morning about 150. The cars will be divided into areas of country manufactured. That being said, if there is a desire to be grouped together as a club instead, let me know and I'll make sure a place is carved out. If this is the case, we'll need to know which area (country) is best, since there will be different entry points to each. And, someone will need to be in charge of herding the club cars to that area. Might be too much trouble but is possible. Just let me know.....

And are we doing a DFWC section?

JackG

All,

Arrival window 10 - 11:30 AM; there are a lot of shade trees but would be best to arrive early for good spot. There are three entrances; Willow & Preston for USA cars, Entrance just south of Churchill Way for German, Middle entrance for Brit & Italian. It will be a little warm but at least dry!

Look forward to seeing everyone.

Jack,

Are you staying up all night watching the 24 Le Mans?

JackG
06-14-2009, 12:00 AM
HA, Michael! I watched a lot of it earlier but I'm about to turn in. It's pretty awesome watching them run at night. That was the scariest part, running the same speeds with no lights on the track; only with car lights. The track and pits have really changed a lot over the yrs. They will really thin out with a lot fewer cars running when we watch in the morning. By finish, the cars left will be pretty crapped out.

Jack
