Blown ESS S54 750HP at the crank. Been following it on Zed-related boards, should be going for the Nordschleife record this year. All the parts are purpose not show (note the plexi side windows). I really love the flat/matte grey with black gloss striping...

One of the few matte cars that look good. There was a Shelby GT500 at SLTC the other day that was matte and looked good.

I can't wait to see what it does. That much power in a nice, light car should be very fun. Will the record count as a production car, or would it have its own class being modified and all?

A supercharged S54 is pretty tame, what record are they going for? Is this for the GT class?

It might be tame, but I don't see any HPF turbo car trying for it, because the Nurburgring has too many curves. :burnout:

You don't see any HPF Turbo's trying b/c there are no HPF Turbo's (yet) in Germany. Is there a HP limit on the Nurburgring?

A supercharged S54 is pretty tame, what record are they going for? Is this for the GT class?...Trying to find out what class.

A 750 horsepower S54 is tame?! In a car that weighs less than 3000 pounds?

Was just looking at the HPF website...I guess 750BHP is tame compared to 951BHP (Stage3 Turbo + 110 Oct + Alc)

750 is a high number for a supercharged S54, the highest I've seen. Even if it is making that the supercharged vendors always post peak hp - which is at redline. Torque is what matter, let's see the torque curve.

This is a powerful S54. I believe they are going for the record in a production class, street legal road car. It's not a race-car. Currently the ESS/KW tuned E46 M3 CSL "LOADED" holds the record.

You're absolutely correct. There comes a point on the Nordschleife where power really doesn't produce much added benefit. A turbo car would also likely struggle to maintain boost, so I think a SCd car would possibly be a better balance coupled with a highly tuned suspension and aerodynamics.

I am meeting up with ESS and Schubert Motorsports at the Nordschleife on Friday for testing. I hope to get some pics.

Perhaps those were just fodder for the burn out video :)

My understanding is different wheels and tires and possibly some widening of the fenders. The wheels and tires on the car in the current pictures are strictly for daily-driving use only.

Sorry guys. No-go. It was pouring rain Friday. Yesterday was a VLN race and the Schubert team was there for racing their car instead of testing. I didn't go up because of the horrible weather, but I am not sure if they did any testing. I will be in touch with Hans to see if there is another date scheduled.

wow that's too bad. I think Russ mentioned it was raining last weekend, maybe this contributed to the crash?

Yes, it was weather related. It occurred during the drive to the ring. It's not a total write-off and they'll be back at it once the damage is repaired.

I will be there for the record setting lap. :)
