Decided to replace the front license plate cover with something a little nicer.

I think it came out pretty good.. the performance increase isn't much since I don't have a supercharger/intercooler or anything in there yet. I like the looks a lot though and it wasn't too hard to do.

Well, probably nothing. The engine might run a little cooler but that's about it.
Helping your car breath better is always a good thing. Our air filters are practically right behind that hole, so having cool air sucked right into it without having to worry about too much heat soak from the engine can't be bad.
Eventually, I'd like to put a supercharger on there and that air will help cool the intercooler.

I actually built it myself. It's a pretty simple process.
1 Order the mesh from here: http://www.mcmaster.com/ , item #85385t817 (do a search for that item #)
2 Get the rubber surround from Autozone.
3 Take out the front license plate cover (2 screws on the bottom, slides out from the top).
4 Cut a hole behind the license plate cover.. if you don't care about ever having a front plate, you can cut a much bigger hole. I'll take a picture of the hole after work so you can see how big mine is.
5 Cut a hole in your front license plate cover. I cut in 1" from the edge. Just mark with a pencil and go to town with a dremel. For the angles, you might want to consider a razor blade.
6 Put the rubber surround all around the edge of the hole in your license plate cover. To make a cleaner look, I made the surround meet in the middle at the top and I colored the small gap with a black Sharpie (since my car is white, it would've been obvious). If you do it right though, there shouldn't be much of a gap at all. Mine is less than a millimeter thick and it pays to really do that part right so it looks good.
7 Take the mesh and cut it down to size. Make sure to mold it to your front plate really well so it doesn't try and push away.
8 Use heavy duty glue to bond the mesh and front plate. I also went the extra step and got this generic rubber glue to put on top of the other glue as added protection since it's waterproof.
9 Since your car is yellow, you'll want to paint the area behind the cover black.
10 Mount your front plate and you're good to go. :)
I'm going to try and make it this Saturday, so if you go let me know and I'll show it all. If you want to do it, I have tons of extra rubber surround that you can have. I have some extra mesh but I dont think it's enough to build your own unless you settle for a smaller opening. I'm not sure how good that'd look though.

Is that the only picture you have of your vette, cause it isn't very illustrative (except for this license plate thing)......:questionmark:
In fact, I have to take a triple look and guess everytime what the heck is that thing:questionmark:

No other good pics, actually, that one's not even good. But Ill post a couple more tonight, just for you.
Most of the guys I know on this board have seen it in person, so I didn't think I needed the "whole" car in my avatar :dontknow:
