They haven't shipped stateside yet, but yes, a V10 similar to the Gallardo's V10 will be used from here on.

it was built to be a looker...unfortunately...not a super car... The V10 (fingers crossed) will solve that.

They design and build fantastic cars and then leave the power lacking.
Great for the aftermarket but they don't control that.

I think Audi builds some good looking cars and think the R8 looks awesome! The V10 will certainly help the car in the power department. If they would bring the RS6 over here they would have another potent motor offering.

Its actually a tuned down V10, I believe by maybe 40 hp or so. I believe they are doing this so people will still buy the Gallardo kinda like the C63 and the E63. Its going to be legit. Right now I'd take the CLK63 power over the R8, but when that V10 comes out... very nasty.

My understanding is that the R8 was aimed at 911C4S that's why they put a low power engine in it. And the V10 is aimed at 911TT. Now that Porsche owns 50.5% of VW, that might change.
