OK Scott, you need those gauges as your next mod! That is freakin awesome!:thumbsup2: I especially love the methanol part. Hopefully he/she has a racing gas only decal on the fuel door as well.

Is this just a stencil/screen that replaces the stock bits, or is it more extensive? I've been thinking about how to light up the ///M on my cluster. These guys might have the answer...

No idea how they do it.. I will be happy to put you in touch with the guy if you're interested.

Slightly OT, but Scott, did you know you can put your stock dash into "test" mode to show "Actual" speed (not indicated speed), water temperature (as opposed to oil temp), etc?

I think it would have to be a bit more complex with some of the graphics, such as the turbo lighting up and the ///M3thanol light.

Scott, that **** is baddass. Go win some money racing and buy it with the proceeds. It will make it that much sweeter.

Nice looking gauges. Perhaps Speedhut also has some gauge options for the M crowd:)

The process is slightly different between each major BMW model... and entails getting into "Test" mode using the instrument cluster buttons, then "Unlocking" the menus, and then selecting the sub menu. It's the "Unlocking" process that is different between major models. For example, in some M5 generations, it requires adding up the last numeric digits of the VIN and selecting that sub-menu ID represented by the total in menu 19 (e.g. Vin ending in 12345 = 15 means one would select menu 19.15 to unlock the other menus). In my E86, submenu 19.0 just cycles between on and off, and while off is displayed I hit both cluster buttons to select "off" to unlock. It appears as though the E46 works the same way as the E86.

See the E46 "Easter Egg" list here: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=597288 specifically the "Instructions to access the hidden OBC functions" and "BMW E46 On-Board Computer (OBC) Hidden Codes" sections.

I documented the entire process for the E85/6s a little bit ago so I'll post that here as well as it better outlines the steps for going into test mode for driving (S/R is my left-most cluster button):

Enter Vehicle.
Start Car
Enter test mode (hold down the S/R button until _tESt_0._ is displayed)
Press the S/R button quickly until _tESt_19._ is displayed.

After a second, _tESt_19.0 will be displayed with alternating/flashing L_oFF and L_oN.
When L_oFF is displayed, press both the S/R and the button beside it at the same time
You will be returned to _tESt_0._

Press the S/R button quickly until _tESt_7._ is displayed.

After a second, _tESt_7.0 will be displayed.
Press S/R button quickly until _tESt_7.3 is displayed.

Drive.
Note speeds. (Remember the _tESt_7.3 speed is in km/h so you'll need to do some math afterwards)
Stop Driving.
Turn car off.
Exit vehicle.

Things to be aware of -- Stay away from menu 21 while driving...it resets the gauges, clock, date, and ODBC and there's no telling what it will do while driving. Also, the "Actual" speed is heavily dependent on the outside-diameter of the wheels+tires being very close to stock with full tread. What we've found is that the "Actual" speed as reported is a tenth or two off of the "Real"/GPS speed whereas the indicated (speedometer) speed can be up to 10 MPH off at higher speeds.

I say this with the upmost due respect...There really aren't that many people on E46F that have the right to say anyone else is ricer.

Eh, I think it looks cool, especially with the turbo light and the meth light.

The mod is definitely over the top for me, but looks good imo. Props to the guy who made it, great work.

Sure. Or if you've got a link to a build thread, I can probably back it out from the pics.

was the need to put LEDMOD.com really that important? kind of ruins it imo.

Ya, I looked into getting a custom setup through them back like three years ago for my sti, I even did all the graphics work in Illustrator myself; they said they wouldn't do it unless they had their logo on it, and that they couldn't use my line work, it all had to be done in house. (Even though their designer I emailed said mine would have worked just fine.) In the end all it is, is a printed poly-vinyl sheet that you replace the stock one with. I lost interest in getting it done when they told me about the logo, you could just as easily print and cut one yourself.

The owner of the M3 is a good friend of the ledmod.com owner. I am sure the advertisement is not a normal part of their work.

I like the gauges, look pretty sweet. I think upgrading the existing gauges isn't ricey, its when you put the gauges in the A-Pillar when you have zero need for them.
