He sorta kinda but not totally did it on purpose. It was his last pass of the night, and he really wanted to get a sub 10 second pass, so he turned up the Nitrous. 600 at the wheels already and another 150 shot on stock internals. I think I read over on NAGTROC that the internals on the GTR aren't forged? Anyway, he said they are gonna rebuild it now.

I think it would be funny as hell to bring it in to the dealer and ask them to warranty the work, and say "well, traction controll was on..."

I hope they weren't using the launch control, I'd hate to see them lose their warranty. :dontknow:

I guess it was not that bad.

Today's Update:

We were finally able to completely dissect the car for damage today...

THE ENGINE IS COMPLETELY FINE!!!!!

What happened is that we discovered a weak point of the drivetrain... THE BELL HOUSING.

The nitrous and fuel system was apparently fine but TOO MUCH TORQUE shattered the bell housing!

There was some minor damage to the downpipes and exhaust but nothing major.

All in all... we should have it completely fixed for about $1,800.

Maybe the GT-R's engine is a lot stronger than we thought. :)

* I'll post some photos in the coming days. I need to bring my Nikon SLR up to the shop and get some nice photos.

If all goes well we should back on the track next week.

Hmm, interesting. I agree with Rob, I'd take it to the dealer and ask to see if it is covered under warranty

Might as well push it to the limit since backing out one screw will void your warranty.

How are you triggering the nitrous?

While staging, it looks, and sounds, like the nitrous is engaging during power-braking, and at the same time its hitting the rev limiter. It would be interesting to see what your datalogger is recording during the 'incident'.

Sure got lucky on the damage; could've been alot worse. Good luck, sure looks like you are having a blast with the car!
