Absolutely awesome time today throwing some Porsches around the track and autocross. Drove everything... GTS, Carrera 4S, Carrera S, Carrera on the inside track at TMS and Cayman R, Boxster Spyder, and Boxster S around the autoX. The GTS was awesome... and I definitely think I will be looking into getting a Cayman R at some point in the future. Overall, an outstanding event... Great Job Porsche.

I thought I saw your ride leaving while we were waiting for our turn at bat. I'm sure you and your wife had as much if not more fun than my wife and I.
Cool pics bro!!

Must have been a blast! Good for you Brian!

Brian,
Step up and get a GTS. My wife drives a CAB and it is a blast. Ranks up there as one of the most fun Porsche's I've driven. 410 HP, PDK, stock sport exhaust, etc. Damn thing is quick and it's a wide body rear wheel drive NA car.
Patrick's Dad got the first Cayman R in the US about a month ago. Car was drop dead gorgeous. White. He took it to the track the day it was picked up and proceeded to hammer down. He carved up that track amazingly with the PDK tranny. Unfortunately, my GT3 didn't have much trouble eating him up. Still a great car.

It was definitely a good time out there yesterday. I was quite impressed with the Cayman R on the auto-x. The road track session was a little too controlled, in my opinion. Great time none the less.

What is the setup and event like? Most of these are boring as hell.

It will probably be boring for you.
About 10 minutes of class and 20 minutes of Porsche Kool Aid service.
Instructor will be in the car with you on the auto-x and will only do two laps at a time before going back in line to drive a different mid-engine.
You and another (your guest if you bring one) will do a lead and follow on the road course with the various 911's for two laps then you will switch seats for two laps. Then you rotate cars and repeat.

Then I will just pass everyone during the lead and follow.

Well, I suck. There were too many people I knew from Atlanta there, so I decided not to pis off anyone. I did some vids, but my wife rode with me in the first track run, and she was officially barfing before the first lap was complete. So that didn't help in my quest to get kick out either. So, I suck.
It was fun, and I thought the autocross was better, as we didn't have a leader doing 40 mph holding us back.

^^^Wife slowed down enough and made a good gap to punch the 4S up to a brief 95-100mph. Sorry to hear about your wife's meal ending up in the car. That means you still succeeded!!

I'm too low to know the big-wigs. Some of the instructors from Birmingham were pretty cool, however. Except for the guy in the standard Boxster. He was all business.

That's funny, when I did the 911's on the track the leader was hard to keep up with, he cleared 100 several times in the Turbo S in the front... when I rode with him it was the fastest thing I had ever been in. I know I was at 70+ for most of the rides in the cars, red-lining in 2nd and shifting to 3rd a lot. The only 911 I was decent at driving was the 4S because I wasn't used to the engine in the back of the car trying to pass me on turns... guess it's something that takes practice.

I don't doubt that since the group headed by the Turbo was much faster than the front group. He would head out a 1/2 lap behind and easily catch up before the end of the two laps.
