For those unaware, the Gumball 3000 occurs during the first week of May, running exclusively in the United States this year (Cali for Florida route). They are stopping for a night in Dallas.

Supposedly, the stop will be on May 5th, at the W Hotel. A couple of buddies and I will probably swing by the W and check out some of the rides. There will definitely be some awesome cars there, so if you get a chance, I encourage you to come out :thumbsup2:

Would definitely be a good time if there was not work the next day. Well, it would be a great time, but work would be miserable. Still, if a group is able to get into Ghost Bar w/o having to pay an unholy cover charge, I'd be up for stopping by for a while. While I'm still reasonably young...my 2:00AM weekday party days seem to be over

I was told that by a friend who has a friend running in it. So, it's kinda double hearsay lol. Another poster believed they would be in around 4PM that day.

I'll try to confirm to see if plans have changed. Oh yeah...they left Cali today. Some good photos floating around the web.

When they arrive is really up in the air. Some will drive faster and get here earlier in the evening. But, I would guess 7:00PM means that's when they are all expected. But, it's definitely going to be Tuesday evening, and they are staying at the W, though they may be doing something else downtown that evening too (not sure what, yet...)

Last time I chatted with Brett (in the Veyron) he was in Cali en route Vegas (5/2), followed by Grand Canyon (5/3). They're probably en route to New Mexico today (5/4) and spending the night there, I believe. Next stop after that will be here in Dallas (5/5), followed by Houston, New Orleans, Orlando and finally Miami (5/8).

That is what I've heard too. I've half considered driving out west on I-30 a little ways to see some of them on the road, but we'll see.

Also, the cars may be congregating in some of the outside parking lots adjacent to the W, along Museum Way. That may be the best chance for a photo op..I'm betting that when the drivers are ready to party (or crash), the cars are stored underground at Victory for the night.

Edit:

I just got of the phone with them and they ARE charging cover tonight. I spoke with Brad and he said he would be happy to reserve us a table for 6 with a minimum of one bottle (~$300 depending on the liquor ordered). He was expecting a large crowd so line jumping would be included. If anyone has a hook up there you need to speak up ASAP.

Same here. Rumor has it that Snoop Dogg may make an appearance there tonight, so y'all have fun.

Regarding the cars, I believe they had lunch planned in Amarillo, then may be traveling east to OKC, and then on down I-35. Weather is pretty nasty up around OKC right now, so that could slow them down a bit (or maybe not lol). But, despite the cloudiness, it should stay dry here, so hopefully there will be a good chance for photos.

Aside from a birthday party for somebody, I've never done table service. Still always manage to spend at least $100 anyways. Would rather just buy a couple bottles of something nice to keep at home than do that anymore.

The Gumballers should start to arrive between 4:30-5:30, and the cars will be outside until around 10:00pm. The lot is outside, at the SW corner of Victory Park Ln and Museum Way. There are some open parking spots along the streets, and some other lots too (that may cost a few bucks). I'm thinking of going either at 6 to get some photos in before its too dark.

...oh, and supposedly (according to Dallas Morning News), a driver got busted in New Mexico for going like 160-170 in his Veyron. He's been detained and the car "impounded" lol. So, that's one less sweet ride to see. :(

The fee for this year was $44,000 and that was for two drivers and all the meals and hotels.

They were also selling the last half of the journey (Dallas - Miami) for $15,000 last night.

I was talking to one of the gumballers and he said thay are thinking of raising it to around $120K next year. I dont think that will happen though.

It is different every year. This year would be pretty "cheap" since it is all U.S. driving. San Fran to Beijing was so expensive due to flying all of the cars overseas and whatever "donations" they had to make to Chinese officials.
