Anyone attending?
I'll be there with my girlfriend who will be running her first HPDE. I'm hoping it's not pouring down rain.

Sounds like fun, but I can't make this one. I'll be at MSR the weekend of the 16th for the 3.1 mile track.

It's got a lot of problems and generally isn't "safe"...In fact there are club racing associations that have disallowed its inclusion in the course because of this. (the 1.7 "old" track circuit is approved). If I had a track-only toy, I'd be more willing, but I'm not taking the chances with a relatively expensive/rare semi daily driver.

I found the new section to be great fun, no issues unless you turn in early and going too fast, then your going off. As for problems, didn't see any. Listen to the instructor and you will enjoy. The change in elevation is what it's all about!!!!

I was there and it was a blast. Mind you I didn't really like Apex but I went solo all day. It was really wet first run but after that is was dry and FAST. There were a bunch of Audi guys on this run and pictures should be on the site www.northtexasaudigroup.com that an eye chart of a site. I told them of DFWAUTO and they should be coming to some Saturday events.

I saw you running with the advanced group a few times. Girlfriend had a bad first half of the day (couldn't get used to the helmet), but got much more comfortable towards the end.
What don't you like about Apex?

With PCA or Driver's Edge there are at least 9 corner workers, Apex had three.

Catch my attention next time, sorry we didn't meet up. There were a lot of "offs" yesterday, I felt like it was the movies watching people spin and go off-roading.

With PCA or Driver's Edge there are at least 9 corner workers, Apex had three.APEX uses three corner workers plus the on-track radio. Unfortunately, the power was out all day so there was no on-track radio. They had never run into a situation before where the on-track radio didn't work so they weren't prepared to add more corner workers...I'm sure they'll add more radios, etc to cover for that possibility should it happen again.

Interesting...using the radio is nice. Also the El Hefe was a bit "in your face" but I guess that is his style. A very nice day of DE otherwise.

John (El Jefe) is actually a really nice guy, he has to come accross as a **** to make the alpha-type testosterone drivers listen to him so he can maintain his 0-Incident track record (i.e. he doesn't want to turn into a Drivers' Edge). ****s only listen to ****s :)

Oh my uncle was there too, in the yellow air cooled 911 (I forget what year) that was moved up to the intermediate after lunch. For a car with no nannies whatsoever, on a very short wheelbase, he was tearing it up, I was impressed.

I saw that 911, very nice. Probably a 90's era Porsche.

Michael do you run your stock wheels/tires or do you have dedicated track wheels? Advanced group.. sounds like you've done this b4. :thumbsup2:

I am still new at the DE game and don't want to cover sins with "R" tires, so stock with PS2 and the Champion RG57's. I really need/want a dedicated track car with gt3 seats/harness/rollcage and will not do that to the turbo...mostly because my wife will stop riding in the car: "It's too bumpy and the seats are impossible..." so the plan is save some $$ and spend bunches when the right car makes itself available.
PS. The red group is where they stuffed the group I was with and because of previous experience was solo, but...I like having an instructor as they always add value.

I just finished a weekend running the 3.1 mile track at MSR with myself, MikeCLKBlack and another friend of Mike's (Corey) and I found the 3,1 mile track to be a blast. Saturday morning was a washout (literally) and the runs were super slow due to the rain. Staurday afternon things dried up and the track was much better. Today was perfect and the track was fast. As this was my first time at MSR I can't really compare the 3.1 to the two shorter sections that make it up, but I can say that I found the elevation changes on the new section to be some of my favorite sections of the track. The C63 held its own and proved to be a very capable track car! Now it's time for new tires as my rears are toast.
Mike's Black series ran strong as well, but Corey and his Vette just tore the track up as it went Porsche hunting!

Did any of the major wrecks that Drivers Edge is known for occur?

No major wrecks. A few cars off track, but nothing major. The weekend was well run and the only complaint I had was that on Sunday there were a lot of cars in some of the runs.
