Not the most active member I know, but I thought I would at least throw it out there.

I would like to install new springs on my '11 535i, though unfortunately I have no experience doing anything to this magnitude. I've read several DIY guides (various makes of BMW) online but lack the courage to embark on this task alone. In the end I really want to learn something new, but would like a "fail safe" if I go astray.

All that said is there anyone who is familiar with this process/BMWs that would be willing to assist me?

Thanks in advance!

I've done springs on cars, but not on a current gen BMW. Are you doing this in your garage using jack stands, etc or do you have access to a lift?

Its not hard... just time consuming. If you need some spring compressors, I have a set. I have Jack Stands as well.

Good to know that you have spring compressors. We will be tearing into the suspension on my daughters '67 Impala SS sometime in June.

You can also rent them from Autozone for free. You will want to get a tie rod separator as well, also rentable for free from Autozone.

Springs is about 6-8 hours if you have the right tools, 4-6 if you have two people. If you need any help let me know, I have done about 4 spring jobs.

Air compressor will help as well to make using the spring compressor faster. Air ratchet is way faster than using a hand ratchet. I've got a portable compressor, air ratchet and jack stands if you need them.

+1 on the AZ free rentals...I use that for a lot of tools I might only use once or twice in my life.

It's not too difficult just take your time and do it right. The hardest part IMO is getting the stock suspension out after the spring compressors are clamped down and all bolts are out. I've attached a diagram that has been floating around the NSX boards for years, I used this method and it worked perfectly.

Thanks for all the input and offers to loan tools or help! Appears the springs I was going to go with are still in development, while the other mfg I was considering is on back order. Ill bump the thread once I have the springs in hand. Again thanks to all who chimed in!!
