Their tech is ridiculous. Another reason I like Crandall a lot more.

What part of their " Tech Inspection " is " bad " ?

I just don't like how stuffy they are...the helmet I dont mind (14 seconds and under I think), but the cage rule for under 12 or something like that and whatever the trap is sucks if you go with fast friends. Aaron and Scott kept having to lift at the end.

Nicest (safest) track around, yet they worry like it's Yellow Belly or Kennedale.

It's alright, you won't be able to get off the line without spinning your tires :FIREdevil[1]: ... mid 14's :driver:... all day... no helmet needed :dontknow:

Steve
:driver:

p.s. You know I'm kidding. We can find a helment you can use, I know I have a couple for sure.

i was thinking the same thing too... but what if i get lucky and then can't make any more runs... :banghead:

if you have an extra helmet for my big head i would appreciate it... =)

i need to find out if i can make it though...

are people meeting up somewhere and leaving together?

My opinion would be we could meet at Autoscope Park Cities and caravan down.

I would think leaving 5pm would get us there by 6pm ( Gates open ) and we could get several passes in before the HS crowd shows up?

Thoughts?

i normally get out at 6 but i can try for 5

I'd be coming from SL so would likely just take 360 to 287 & meet at the track. Silver E63!

I think I would be down for this. I'd meetup at Autoscope at 5. It has been a week or two since I've broken something on my car. I guess it is time to get it back out on the road!

Can't make it after all. A friend of ours is having a graduation party for their son. Bummer!

A couple of things to note for those with faster cars...

1. If you run a drag radial, all the street tires at TNT's like this will kill any rubber put down on the track.
2. The track does minimal prep when they know a bunch of street tire cars will be running.
3. If your car is capable of running a 11.5 or quicker, you better have the required safety equimpment...rollbar specifically.

Good luck.

When I plan it correctly, between 1/3 and 1/4 of a tank (needless to say I did not this time!)... You don't want to be too low in case the fuel pick-up is positioned in such a manner that it cannot get enough fuel on a hard launch (e.g., pick-up is towards the front of the tank and on launch fuel's pushed to the rear of the tank = starvation or scavenging). There are places close by so you can do a fill-up on the way home... Or you can get 100 octane unleaded at the track if your car/tune would benefit from that. It's really not that expensive. I hear that can be a bit corrosive however, so fill-up ass soon as you can after using the race-gas...

Ok---

The E63 was a REAL pig last night. It was likely more my fault than anything else. I did zero prep to the car before taking it out. Left the house @ 5:00... Later than I wanted. Traffic was horrible. Got thru the gates a little past 6:30. After an hour and a half of driving, the motor was heat-soaked for sure. No real time to let it cool off. No idea what track temp was, ambient was still 98+ on my dash gauge at 7:08, the first pass after the opened the gates.

Normally, I would have cleaned/waxed the car, set tire pressures (did it a week ago anyways), had no more than a 1/4 tank of gas (it was over 3/4) and/or bought some 100 octane unleaded (didn't), changed airfilters (whoops-too busy!), and had fresh oil at least. Car has 34K on it, IMO, it's ready for a plug change - that would no doubt make a difference as well. I did not see any track prep either.

Audi was wlll represented @ TMP last night...

Here, in all my same are my #'s... (honestly my car in high school was faster in the same conditions (1976-78)! Go figure.

7:08 - Run #1 13.151 @ 108.35 mph, 60 foot was 2.666 (Dyno mode ran # 746)
7:13 - Run #2 13.103 @ 108.45 mph, 60 foot was 2.055 (Dyno mode solo run)
7:32 - Run #3 13.326 @ 108.57 mph, 60 foot was 2.197 (Ran #786)
7:39 - Run #4 13.256 @ 107.49 mph, 60 foot time 2.092 (Ran Steve #751)

Wasn't too hot, but I gotta tell ya, these are much more fun in April! It's the Super Chevy weekend and there were trailers & transporters blocking the main pit area. Logistically a bit of a mess. Not really any time to be too social. Had to be back in SL at about 8:30 for a dinner. Pretty rushed - but still fun. An early AM Saturday even out there would be fun!

i looked on the schedule... is thundering thursdays the same thing?

They've just added a lot to their schedule... Looks like Thundering Thursday's would have some "Test & Tune" time, but looks like mostly street legal bracket racing - still may be a fun venue.

Looking down the schedule, I like either the import faceoff on 11/13 or Muscle Car Club challange on 9/11. Weather would no doubt be much better for us & the cars. On 9/11 you can watch some American Muscle or on 11/13 watch some imports grenade as they bounce off the rev limiter (hopefully not my import!)... If any do blow up, we can take bets on what will be stolen in the next day or two (LMAO!)

IFO is not an amateur event. You get some serious imports out there such as Kenny Tran, Tony Palo 8's Integra, Dynosour's 8's Supra, GSS/Pro Source 8's supra (street car). I'm sure Junkie's supra (if he still has it) will run mid 8's if he goes. There are some serious HP per liter (I'm sure the P-car guys understand this) Jap imports that put the smack down and come out of the woods or garage built weekend warriors. IFO, is nothing to laugh about.

Hey donkeypunch,

I understand. Used to go to those events (years ago), including the Hot Vee-Dubs. They are pretty serious events with some very serious power-did not mean to imply they wern't. Always liked the early GT-Rs for the power they could build with 4WD. Did not mean to imply they were not top-notch events or that they were less than professional...

My comment was more tounge-in-cheek regarding this post:

I would think one would not get a lot of TnT at IFO. If you're planning a DFWAC event to spectate, then that's different. But to run, TnT is very limited as they have lots of classes for qualifying.
