That sucks.

But, this video makes me wish MotorsTV was broadcasted in the US. Leaps & bounds AHEAD of Speed....

The guy crashed because his driver side rear tire disintegrated. Look at the video, you can even see the car sink down at the driver rear.

That kind of stuff scares me for track days. I am quite comfortable pushing my car near the limit when everything works correctly, but I drive hard enough that if I had a catastrophic tire blow-out, I could be in trouble. Something to think about...

That was my first thought as well.

2 things-
US coverage sucks, they didnt even re-cap it on SPEED?
And that was a crazy crash, I cant believe the car caught air. I know they are going pretty fast, but thats an interesting angle for air to get under the car.

Unfortunately a tire going down at that speed will take anyone out. I guess for our sake, thats when you have to be ready to write off a car.

The only thing that exists on Speed is Nascar, Nascar, & more Nascar. I don't think they even broadcast ALMS anymore. :(

I don't understand how it missed taking out the 3rd Audi. was this at the 24 Hour or a support race for the 24hr? I didn't see any non-458s out there and 458s I remember seeing on the 24hr were not Challenge cars, they were all out GT2 class 458s.

Ferrari gymnastics at its best, though I gave the landing only an 8.5.

I dvr the F1 qualifying and racing from Speed.
Unfortunately the next 3 races are on Fox.
Speed gives better coverage, Fox condenses the pre and post race.

Back on topic, here's some flight time from an LMP car in the the 24 Hrs of Le Mans.

Well, that explains how they missed the 3rd Audi. It was a support race.

ALMS is on a mix of ABC, ESPN2, and ESPN3.com this year. Also, I've found World Rally on Discovery HD. It's shown several weeks after each event.

Kudos for the info. I remember having to watch the Long Beach round on ESPN's website because ABC was apparently broadcasting something else.

Just wish Speed would step up to showing more international races. The last ones I saw were a DTM & V8 Supercars race, & they were cut down for time.

True, I guess I already have that base covered with my runflats. I guess a runflat can't really catastrophically fail like that due to the sidewall support. One small benefit to running them on the track.
