I hate to post cross-forum, but here's a screaming deal that some E,C,CLS 55 and 63 owners might want to get on. Sorry Mike, I believe it is for all 4. Shoulda waited 2 years :laugh:

Res, they are! What was the final price Ryan? Looks like they are more expensive now than a year or so ago...by quite a bit. Did you get all 4, or just the fronts? Also looking at these too. I'll need them soon...according to PPMBZ.......

I've ordered a full set of the RB rotors (front and rear) and should have them in a few weeks. Since I track the car, I wanted slotted only and the RB rotors seemed to fit the bill. I also decided to go for the Endless MX72 pads which are supposed to offer significantly more stopping power than OE, although they are $$$

I got all four for $1960 plus shipping, but that was the 20% off group buy...I looked at Racing Brake also, but this deal was too good to pass up...I was going to get them slotted only, but I got 50K miles out of my original MB set with track time and now I can replace rotors only at will :D...I'm sure the drilling can't save more than a pound a rotor anyways...Somehow these are 1.5 lb lighter than the RB's...:hmmmm2:

Where'd you find the rears Mike..? Oops nevermind, I always forget to look at the C63 pages...

That GB was a great deal on the Evo rotors and I have been very happy with my rears from them. They have worn very little and have held up great. I'll be selling my rear Evo rotors with only .1mm of wear from new for $400 as soon as my RB rotors arrive.

Ryan, how are the new rotors treating you? Get them on and broken-in ok?

Pretty sure he hasn't even had time to put them on! A few ago they made a hell of a living room piece @ his place! :D They do really good, really damn good!

Yeah, they are still sitting in my office...I'm going to bring them home this weekend and give it a shot putting them on since my garage should be below 100 :) Haven't been home for about 4 weeks...

One front on...almost a whole can of Lucas penetrator and a lot of 5lb. Hammer whacks and the rotor came right off...haha...these bitches freeze on hard...It did take a 2 foot breaker bar to get the caliper bolts off...

The bonus is that I finally went to MB and bought my missing jacking pads. A whopping $6.50 each with the MBUSa discount...

citylightva

No knuckles injured...got the second one off and cleaned in one hour...greased the hell out of the hub, but I doubt that will help the next sap :) got to go bed them in and not get a reckless ticket.!

I wish I hadn't been so ready to be done or I would have really cleaned out my wheel wells...

I greased the hubs up a bunch, hoping they'll come off easier next time...

Once I get the rears on I'll let you know...Those are the only ones I care about...7lbs. less per side...Still trying to find a 1/2" E-18 socket that's not deep well...A N N O Y I N G...

Why don't you ask Autoscope? I'm sure they have the tool and they might loan it out to a forum member... Just a thought.

I just replaced all four of my rotors this week and I had the same problem getting the two small bolts off that keep the rotor in place while the wheel is off. In my case they were a #2 phillips and I couldn't even get them off with an impact driver. I ended up using a bolt extractor drill kit, had them all off in a couple of minutes, and bought eight new bolts from the dealership for $5. Not sure if this applies to your situation but it might be easier and cheaper than trying to find the correct socket.

Not really. My rotor locating pin bolts came off super easy. These are the caliper mounting bolts...Just an odd size since most external Torx sets I found only went up to E16 or were deep well and I need to get my 2 foot breaker bar on it back there...Oh well, I just ordered one from Mac Tools...

I have officially given up. Without a lift and/or very high powered air impact gun the radial mounting of these makes it almost impossible to get any torque on the bolts. I'm thinking you could probably pull the control arms and swaybar off to get at em, but I'm not trying to do any of that. They are on there good and I can only get a 14" breaker on em. Oh well, so much for doing my own work :p

Heya Mike.! Guess what.? You were right. The actual rotor thickness on the Evo's is a mil or 2 less than the OEM's, BUT that also leaves more venting space in the middle :thumbsup2:

I hear ya... I did Front & Rear pads & rotors on my old E39 today that one of my kids drives. What a beating. Much too old for this kinda fun!

Less unsprung weight FTW!
