What is your build date?

At the least, you should replace the common weak points with the S50 motors (Valve-Spring Retainers, Water Pump, Radiator, Oil Pump Nut issue etc.)

Good luck with the build. If I could have done it all over again, I would have kept my E36 M and boosted that sucker!

I'm interested to see your results. I have a 95 M3 in the shop that we are doing a turbo build on, too. It started as a cheap, high mileage rat like yours. We pulled the S50 and sent it off to get body work, new interior, and paint. When it comes back, we are installing a built, low compression, 2.8L M52, converted to OBDI, and our custom turbo kit. Actually, the customer is going to drive it NA while we finish the details on the turbo build with him. It's going to be a real dog until the turbo kit goes on!

i was under the impression the S50US motor was fully forged except for the pistons but the pistons can handle 600 rwhp with proper tuning

Pretty neat build... Looks like they are making good progress.

Interested to see the final result. I started a build like this with another shop that ended up screwing me over (Although this was over 4 years ago). For some reason though they're still open even though he consistently puts out $hitty work...

Anyways, back to your build. lol. Sorry for the rant. Best of luck!

Don't worry ill keep ya updated!

the big thing im trying to figure out is there isn't much information about boosting these motors on google...

so i guess we going to shoot for 8 psi....
(Plz no boom?:))

Are you going to throw a thicker HG in to lower compression a bit? I would highly suggest that at the very least... Doesn't cost much either.

This is a really good idea. Boost Logic has gotten over 1200 HP on the non-turbo 93+Supra engine by lowering the compression with a thick Head gasket, & a big turbo.

I'm assuming no leaks from a bad head gasket but the car may be due for one soon, might as well just wait to do all that maintenance and upgrade stuff at once when you have the motor pulled apart.

i dont understand why you're paying someone R&D time to "create" a kit. when you can piece together a kit for pennies on the dollar.

also saying there isnt much information about boosting e36 m3 is like saying there isnt much information on how shady donnie is on the internet. a quick google search resulted in this gem. http://www.ricekiller.com/forums/showthread.php?t=107326

the issue here is simple, the e36 m3 has been turboed by so many people that its a cake walk to do it in your garage. you have clearly not done your homework on the car or the application you're trying to add on.

After having been to a few RKC meets and very rarely lurking on that forum, I have a hard time believing a single person who posts there. I've never witnessed a forum so full of B.S. since the inception of the internet.

I'm also a bit intrigued as to why so much work is going into what should be a pretty straight-forward and quick build on a commonly boosted car. Keep in mind...a few precautionary, fairly simple upgrades go a long ways toward turbo motor reliability. You'd do well to listen to a few of the guys in here.

Good luck!

Well im letting Donnie do his thing his price is actually extremely reasonable and i couldn't find another shop to come close price wise.

After talking to him for a while i am most comfortable with him doing the work.

He has done alot of recent work on friends of mines cars and everyone has been very pleased im not sure where all the hate comes from.

and im not paying extra money for R&D.

This is my first venture into the turbo world my last build was a 03 cobra which was pretty simple.
