One thing I forgot to add.

Screwed up labels just kill the value of a bottle of wine for retail or restaurant sales. I always ask to see what they have with torn, ripped stained or damaged labels, it all tastes the same, so save the $$$, especially at high end restaurants; Pappa's, Bob's, Del Frisco's, etc. Plus the Sommeliers’ will not act pompous with you if you hit them with this – my experience anyway. They will know you’ve been around the block. I also ask for age (vintage) over everything else; vineyard, region, etc., then decide from there. I am a big Napa fan, but South Africa and Argentina are getting real close to what Napa does, so great value there.
