Default Tactical carbine/hangun training recommendations

Getting tired of just going to the range and punching holes in paper. Looking for some advanced training, preferrably by people with military experience. A couple groups I've heard of are Critical Defense Group in Greenville, TX http://www.criticaldefensegroup.com and Tiger Valley near Waco, TX http://www.tigervalley.com

Curious if anyone has taken any of their carbine or handgun classes and has feedback? Or perhaps another company along those lines that offers quality training?

I'd also recommend taking at look at the Texas Concealed Carry Institute, with Phil and their offered classes.

I've done Tiger Valley at Waco and Elm Fork - TJ and crew are good to go. From what I gather, one of the places that they've received their training from is the Midsouth Institute. I'd also venture to say they've received training from CSAT and Vickers - this is based off the emphasis on the fundamentals and accuracy over speed. TJ is retired Army and a retired Garland SWAT sniper. He's got interesting stories regarding his police work, cracks me up all the time. I haven't been the Tue night Elm Fork classes in a while, but a couple of classes that I really enjoyed was the CHL scenario class, and the shooting around [your] vehicle class.

CSAT in Nagadoches is also A+++. The owner/trainer, Paul Howe, is former Delta and took part in the Battle of Mogadishu (read the book Black Hawk Down). I wanted to go this year and didn't get a chance, but my training buddies went and came back with a tremendous amount of info (and experience). This is on my bucket list.

I've also gone to Guardian Angel PMC - great group of guys and more affordable, but w/ a slightly different mindset (regarding accuracy over speed). Ryan is retired Navy and Matt is retired Air Force.

Good on you for wanting to get out of static bench shooting!

TDSA has an excellent range and does offer courses. I'm not 100% on the levels of training offered but do know that LEOs train there.

I rented out Tiger Valley with TJ for one day last year. We did an advance pistol course for just 2 of us. Had a great time, shots over 800 rounds and learned a ton.

It really wasn't that expensive given we split it and would be fine for up to 4-5 people. We're gonna do a carbine course next so I can learn to shoot my Mk18.
