The Lodge is the obvious choice for the next adventure.

Patrizio's is a place I would reccomend. There is one in Highland Park somewhere, but I have only tried the one in Fort Worth.

Quite good food, and reasonably priced. They have wine, but I have never gotten it.

Glad it worked out for you!

Cedars Social is not bad. Small portions, but decent prices and good drinks. If you're going to Gilley's or The Loft for a show it's a good place to eat first.

Otherwise the area kind of sucks, though Lee Harvey's is close by. Other than that there's the Southside and the police station.

Bolsa in Oak Cliff is a great place with a locavore twist. Graham Dodds the exec chef is amazing.

The wines are reasonable and basically presented in dollar tiers.

The PEI mussels are awesome and the bruschetta sampler is another winner on the menu

Went to Bolsa for the first time for a girl's bday a few Sunday's back, delicious burger and a great change of pace!

I love Nick and Sam's, Ocean Prime, Pappas Bros, Eddie V's etc. I usually only eat at those places with guy friends before we head out. As far as "1 on 1 date" places go, I plan on staying single for a while so I always hit up a few same spots for more casual dates if I'm taking a girl out to dinner. I love R&D Kitchen(burger or spaghetti), Urban Taco(red snapper plus blueberry mojito or cojito), and Shinsei(all the sushi) to say "hey, i like you but i like to have fun" and not get locked up.

Being a senior citizen and someone who is past worrying about making an impression.....it's Lubys for me!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, it's kinda like Groucho Marx once said that he wouldn't be a member of any country club that would admit him. I'm usually not interested in anyone who would go out with me!!

Seriously, a great place that I don't think has been mentioned is Javier's. Javier Gutierrez is owner and greeter and very serious car guy. Almost always has his Ferrari by the door and has his track GT3 at MSR. A reservation is a must. Always finish the meal with his liquor...called 43 (Quarante tres). Most of the time he will comp this nicety. Back in my serious courting days I never let a week go by without stopping by and chatting with Jave. If you mention cars he will act like you're a lifelong friends which always impresses the ladies!

Jack

It's not actually italian, and they run dinner specials and such weekly so the menu changes pretty frequently. Also, did I mention it's BYOB with no cork fee?
Necropost again, but I'm trying this one tonight - I'll give a review tomorrow.

Also, to the posters who suggested The Lodge, well, I ran it by the girl as a joke at first, and she agreed on the following conditions:

1.) She be somewhat intoxicated.
2.) We go on date night.

Nils, I owe you a drink. If anyone is looking for an awesome date place, Urbano Cafe is incredible. That had to be the best pork tenderloin I've had in years. And smoked gouda grits? Yeah.

I owe you a drink.
