Default College Football Kickoff

I'm a hard core OU fan, not the start I was expecting. Hard to beat El Paso?

Lovin me my Baylor Bears! But, I suspect it was more how bad SMU played than how great BU played. We'll have some real trouble soon with the murderer's row of TCU, Okla, Okla St., Texas, Tech, etc. all wanting revenge from last year. And throw in West Virginia. Tough league. But, nevertheless, a solid win yesterday and a great start.

Sic Em Bears! I think it was a combo of all of the above: SMU not being good and Baylor playing great. I have a feeling this season will end a little differently than last year. Dispite that, I'll still cheer on my alma mater. Jack, did you go to Baylor?

Indeed I did! As did all my 3 sons (which would likely be the age of most of the guys here...). '66 graduate.

I agree, OU Alum here too. I didn't see any cohesiveness between L. Jones and his receivers, if their timing gets better (should seeing how he's a front runner for the Heisman this year) then I think we will walk the conference with the exception of having to play West Virginia at home late in the season. We had a punt and a kick blocked and one of them returned for 6, that's the only time they scored. We should have won by a lot more seeing how the line was OU by 60+. That's what these early games are for, get the jitters out and clean up your game before conference play.

I am looking forward to watching OU play TCU in FW in December. Boomer Sooner.

The problem with the way the BCS is set up a team is never allowed to "get the jitters out". You have to hand the UTEPs of this world their ass$s.

Even with our poor showing we only dropped one spot in the AP, for now that will have to do until the BCS comes out. We still never allowed their offense to score.

With 5 SEC teams currently in the top 10 they can't all stay there when they all start playing one another. Big 10 looks questionable if Michigan continues to play like they did and OSU isn't eligible. The Pac12 has USC but they have an unproven defense and then of course there is Oregon. The Big East is nothing without WVU now in the Big12. I am interested to see if FSU pans out with their early season hype, it didn't work out last year.

I think if OU wins out their season they have a great chance of being top 4 in the BCS at the end of the season. The way Alabama played Michigan I find it hard to believe that they won't be in the title game come January.

You're right, there won't be a Heisman this year but don't go short on Nick Florence, I think we're bowling again. He's got arguably the best receiver corps in the nation, he knows the offense and can throw the ball with touch or on a rope. The running backs are the best 3 that Baylor has ever assembled on 1 team.
The defense will be much improved this year, linebackers (Dixon, Hager and Lackey) and DB's will be a strength, but the middle of the D line is probably a liability.

No, I didn't go, but I paid for 2 degrees there. Sic 'em Bears

If our D holds up, I think we have a great shot at getting into another bowl game this season. Our D was terrible last year but we had RG3 so all we did was score more than the other team.

Even though you didn't go, it sounds like you're still part of the Baylor family

I've been sucked into the Baylor family as well. My wife got her MBA there. She wanted to go for undergrad but her parents wouldn't let her go out of state (from Little Rock). So after she graduated Arkansas State, she became the weird grad student who participated in all the freshman activities.

We have tickets for the Baylor vs TCU game. Looking fwd to it.

Whew, I was worried about my Bears during the first half. Thankfully, they played great and Sam Houston pooped out the 2nd half. Way closer than I wanted it to be, and the score doesn't tell the story. They really need these wins to get some momentum and confidence before they hit Murderer's Row. Still hard to know how good or bad they are. No question they are respectable and way better than pre-Briles teams. Art is a class guy and I've had dinner with him several times. Such a down to earth guy.

I bet that grounding is tough to maintain when you're sitting with Nick Saban and Les Miles and the Heisman winner on stage calls you "the great coach Art Briles".
TGCAB will likely get a statue out in front of the new stadium ... if Baylor can keep him.

Nice game by SHSU, they had their shot but BCS > FCS.

Looking forward to watching The Bears tonight on tv. They will have their hands full and might be the first real test for them. Should be good game.
