Default 2012 Texas Rangers Season Discussion Thread

Alright, we have one for Yu, so why not have one for the whole team?

Hell of a game tonight. Holland was great until the 8th, allowing the tying runs on base, then they are brought home after Adams goes in. Then in the 11th, with Cruz on, Moreland is intentionally walked. Ron Washington made a good call pinch hitting Beltre, and Beltre really made them pay for walking Moreland, launching a ball 456ft to right-center.

Missed the game, heard the recap. Good to see the Rangers back in the win.

Hamilton is tearing up the O's pitching. Three homeruns for him alone, and a double to deep right center. Beltre had a solo bomb after Hamilton's second. Former Ranger Darren O'Day is warming up in the O's bullpen.

Add another to that tally. Jesus. If Hamilton keeps buying me pizza dinners, I'm going to have to put out...

Went to the game today. When I got there, it was pouring, but eventually dried out. It was a nice cloudy day afterwards. Both CJ and Albert got a very warm, Texas-style welcome.

Even though the Angels won, it was still fun to be there, and boo CJ and Pujols. It was CJ's real return to Texas. The throwbacks worn by both teams were cool. And the scoreboard was made to look like one from the 70's. Plus, I got a free throwback cap at the gate. And it was fun to see Ron get in the face of the first base umpire. And early on, CJ was in postseason form. For the rest of his outing, he seemed halfway between regular season and postseason form.

The best shirt I read today said "Angels take it up their Pujols". The A in Angels was the team's logo turned upside down.

So, with Neffy out until at least the All Star break, the Rangers have a couple of options on how to fill that empty spot. They are:

1. Scott Feldman, the long reliever. Started three games this year, had average starts. In his last start yesterday against Seattle, the outing was a bit odd. Gets into trouble early, then throws the ball real well, then gives up the grand slam. After all, this seems like the biggest possibility. It may not be the best however.

2. Alexi Ogando. He filled in for Tommy Hunter last year and made the AL All Star team. But that would create a big void in the bullpen.

3. Roy Oswalt. He's looking for a job and, if he's able to stay healthy, could be a valuable addition now and later in the season. But Oswalt would need time to ramp up and get ready to pitch. He might not be ready for three or four weeks. However, he gives the club some depth. At this point, he has to be considered.

To me, Feldman does make the most sense, but if Oswalt exceeded the expectations of scouts, I would think long and hard about signing him. Robbie Ross was suggested, but that is very unlikely. He needs more time to stretch out, and that would make the bullpen all RHP's.

Well, one of my friends who was at the game tonight had the pleasure of seeing this...a drunk fan made it up there!

That's hilarious. Enjoyed seeing the Blue Jays have to resort to putting a catcher in to pitch the last couple of innings.

I'll second that. He did better than I expected though. And what a game for Cruz...a grand slam, 8 RBI's, and a couple of great catches out in right field.

MLB Network had a fan poll for who should be Friday's MVP, and Cruz got 57% of the votes.

What a game....Cruz, Torrealba, and Moreland hit back-to-back-to-back solo bombs into the visitor bullpen to tie and then take the lead in the 6th. That lead was short lived as Arencibia brought Bautista home on a single. It was 5-5 until the top of the 13th. In the bottom halves of the 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th innings, the Rangers got the winning run in scoring position (to third in 9-11, second in 12) but couldn't bring them home. In the 13th, two unearned runs were brought home by Toronto. But Kinsler was walked by Igarashi, and Elvis brought him home on a double to make it 7-6 Toronto.

And Hamilton steps up after a pitching change.

And launches a ball to Greene's Hill. Game over.

One of the most fun games I have been to in awhile on Friday, Cruz grandslam, fireworks, and incredible weather.

Nice seats! Best seats I've had were right on the field, where the ball girl sits on the right field foul line. Fun game too...they came back from down 7-1 and won in extras.

And what a way to do it...Harrison gets a complete game shutout. It was rather unusual in that he only collected 4 K's. He was a groundball machine tonight.

Though, I will admit, Barry Zito has a killer curveball.

I'm actually going to be there tomorrow night. I have somewhat high expectations for him.

If he is anything like Justin Grimm was in his debut, I think Texas will win the game.
