Scotch appreciation group meeting again this Friday about 6pm in Ft Worth. Bring a bottle with you.

Had about 8 people show up last week. A lot of fun, tons of scotch and a cigar to pair!

I get together with some old friends once a month for a whiskey night where we try something new each month. Last night I got delayed a bit on the way there.

Have any of you tried the offerings from Japan? I had it first at Wolfgang Puck 560 and am now hooked! Nikka Taketsuru 12, Hibiki Pure Malt, and Yamazaki 12 really bring a great change of taste to the world of Scotch!! Goody Goody in Addison or Spec's off 75 by North Park has just about all of them.

When do you guys get together? We must arrange a meet!

I haven't had the Pure Malt (is that the 17?), but the Hibiki 12 is quite good. While it's a blend, it doesn't contain anything aged less than 12 years.

True. Technically, it is not Scotch. The Hibiki isn't labeled as such. I'm not familiar with the others.

I've had a few offerings from Japan...oddly enough NOT in Japan (I'll stick to what I like there) but where it's free...on JAL...on the way to/from Japan LOL. I'll drink them again.

My brother bought a bottle of the KaVaLan Chinese "scotch" and said it was good. I think it's in the $150 range, and there are just too many good Scotches in that price range for me to try a non-Scotch scotch.
