Default Not your everyday GT-R. Just bought an R32

After a long and arduous search fraught with the ups and downs you'd expect from any burgeoning love affair, I've finally handed some hard-earned money over in exchange for an R32 GT-R. The car's 25th birthday is in November, so it won't see US soil for another 4 to 6 weeks. In the meantime, I've got something to look forward to.

The car has the following modifications:

Work Emotion Wheels
Tein Coilovers
Greddy Oil Cooler
Greddy FMIC
HKS Intakes
Cusco BMC Brace
Titanium Catback (I do not know the brand)
Blitz Boost Controller
OEM GTR Strut bars (front and rear)

OEM turbos and ECU. The car has also had a recent timing belt and turbos have been refreshed according to the seller (however there is no documentation).

I'm looking forward to getting to know this car and what it means to own one. I know that there are a few here in the DFW area - so I'm hopeful I'll be able to meet up with some other owners and learn from their experience. If you're one of them, please PM me!

The turn signal is more difficult to master than the shifting.

Nice find Steve. I'm sure you'll be counting the days.
How much HP do these cars put down? And is the shift pattern the same as ours, or reversed (1st on the left or right?)

For Sure!

Just look for his wipers turning on when making a turn

Thanks, Clark.

They were rated at 276hp back when they came out. But it's commonly held that this is quite a bit under-rated. You see, at the time there was a gentleman's agreement among auto manufacturers in Japan that none of them would make a car that had more power than that. Rumor has it the R32 GT-R's real bhp number was north of 320hp.

They respond very well to modifications. This one, with aftermarket intake, exhaust, intercooler, oil cooler and boost controller likely has a decent amount more than that.

The shift pattern is the same as anywhere else in the world. They don't make unique transmissions for RHD markets

Since I'll be picking the car up in Richmond, VA and driving it back to Dallas - I thought I'd plan an interesting route for myself.

Leg 1: Dallas, TX to Richmond, VA to Charlotte, NC
I'm planning on flying out of DFW to arrive at RIC around 1:30pm. The car will be right at the airport. So the inspection and transaction will (hopefully) go quickly and get me on the road by 2:30 or so. That'll put me at my parents' house in Charlotte by 7pm. Just in time for a home-cooked meal and what will hopefully be a great nights' sleep. Because the next day will be LONG.

Leg 2: Charlotte, NC to Memphis, TN by way of Deals Gap
Taking this route from Charlotte to Memphis is about a 10-hour drive. But with a jaunt through Deals Gap I'm sure it'll end up taking slightly longer. So I'll head out as early as I can muster on Saturday with the intention of taking it all in as much as I can on the longest leg of this trip.

I've never been to the Gap before - so I'm pretty excited about this. It should be a good way to get to know the new car. The only thing that makes me a little nervous is the fact that this is going to be late November. Not sure what the weather will have in store for me.

Leg 3: Memphis, TN to Dallas, TX
This leg is about 8.5 hours. So I will probably start out slightly later on Sunday than I did on Saturday. Maybe head out at around 9:30 or 10am and try to get home before the kids go to bed. I'll probably be sick of driving, but I'll be glad to get home and clean the car up before tucking it in for the night.

I'm pretty amped for this trip, to be honest. It was a blast when I did it in my Roadster (Tampa to Dallas) and that didn't include any really fun roads. I've also never been to Memphis before. If anyone has any specific advice for stops that I shouldn't miss along the way, let me know.

Wow. Haven't updated this thread in forever. I have the car and the build thread in my signature (over at CR.net) is up to date.

I picked the car up in Richmond, VA and drove it back via Deals Gap - as promised. It was really awesome.

Will be at Cars & Coffee on Saturday. Feel free to stop over and say hi.
