Looking to save a few bucks. I recently fell in love with The Balvenie Portwood 21 year old Scotch whisky, but at $200 a bottle I'm hoping to find a "hook-up" price somewhere. Someone help me, The Glenlivet just isn't as good after tasting this, and I'm not a baller so I can't buy a bottle of this stuff every week at $200 a bottle.

I've ordered stuff from LoveScotch.com before.
I'm not sure if the pricing is competitive or not, I just used them because I wanted to send something to someone who was geographically separated and I also did not want to interact with this person going forward.

I checked Spec's but it's $232 a bottle. I'm a big fan of the Balvenie too and I would suggest trying the 17yr double wood. It's half the price but still an excellent scotch.
My regular go-to for scotch is the Balvenie 12yr double wood. It can be had for less than $50 bottle and is leaps and bounds better than Glenlivet / Glenfiddich / etc. |

I’ve tried both and I still like The Glenlivet 21 Reserve but I’m a novice by all accounts. I have 4 bottles of single cast 1972 Glenlivet but I’ve never tried it. I bought it to crack open with my daughter gets married. Going to drink it and then crack it open on somebody’s head.

Found it online for $185, that was the best I could find.
I like Glenlivet, but definitely prefer the Glenfiddich 12 to the Glenlivet 12. I'll try the Balvenie Double Wood 12. |

The Glenlivet 12 is nothing special but the 18 okay. The 21 archive is my goto favorite these days... makes me thirsty just thinking about it.

Can't wait to get my bottle of Balvenie 21 year Portwood. Might have to leave work early that day.
![]() I also need to pick up a bottle of Laphroaig 18, sometimes I like a smoky/peaty scotch and that one isn't "too much" smoke or peat.

My worst ever scotch hangover experience was with a young bottle of laphroig, I haven't ever tried any of the older stuff. I also hate to admit it, but I won't hesitate to order a Dewar's if I am out. It is cheap, bearable, and available almost everywhere. I tend to drink it when they don't have any decent beer and I only want one, maybe two drinks max.

I can imagine what a Laphroaig hangover would be like and I don't want to find out for myself. ![]() If I'm drinking blended sctoch (out and want a cheap drink) I'll get Chivas and soda, or Dewar's & soda if they don't have Chivas. But I won't mix a good single malt, IMO it ruins the scotch. I play in a pool league on Weds nights and the bar has $2 you call it drinks all night, so $2 Dewar's is actually a pretty good deal.

Try Glenroths. Trust me. It's just a 12, but its smooth, and has some very nice flavors. About $70 at Goody Goody IIRC.

Got a bottle of "Jura 21" at one of the duty-free shops at Heathrow. Eighty pounds. Not too bad. A bit 'smoky', but a spah of water brings out the flavor. Wanted Macallan 18, but they did not have it. Still think I like the Macallan more. Still like Cognac more too I think...

Picked up a bottle of Glenfiddich 12 and a bottle of Laphroaig 10 just to have around the house.
Drinking some Dalmore 12 tonight that was given to me... it's not bad, but not my favorite.

Scotch night sounds fun. Fubar just volunteered his house, with the Bond Girls serving drinks.

My wife will force us all into the garage... The house belongs to her, don't tell her the garage is worth more.
